BREAKING: Trump panics as Bill and Hillary Clinton prepare to testify before Congress about Epstein: “I hate to see it in many ways.”
For once, Donald Trump is absolutely right to be nervous.
As House Republicans force Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton to testify under threat of contempt in the Jeffrey Epstein probe, Trump is publicly wringing his hands — and privately doing the math.
“I think it’s a shame,” Trump sighed, suddenly discovering empathy. “I always liked him,” he said of Bill Clinton. Of Hillary? “She’s a very capable woman.” He even added, “I hate to see it in many ways.”
Funny how fast the tone changes when the precedent starts pointing back at you.
Because that’s the real story here. By strong-arming the Clintons into testifying, House Republicans have crossed a historic line: Congress has now established that former presidents can be compelled to testify under oath — or face contempt of Congress.
That’s not just awkward for the Clintons. It’s radioactive for Trump.
The House Oversight Committee, chaired by James Comer, is dragging the Clintons in as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. The depositions will be closed-door, recorded, and transcribed — with the not-so-subtle threat of fines or jail time dangling overhead.
House Speaker Mike Johnson says contempt efforts are “on pause” now that the Clintons agreed to testify. But the damage is done. The door is wide open, and Trump knows it.
He had his own well-documented relationship with Epstein. While there have been no credible accusations of wrongdoing so far, there are plenty of unanswered questions, photos, and flight logs swirling around the edges. And now, thanks to his own party’s muscle-flexing, the House has created a weapon that doesn’t magically stop at Democrats.
That’s why Trump’s reaction wasn’t gloating. It was anxiety disguised as nostalgia.
Because today it’s the Clintons being hauled in. Tomorrow? Congress may decide it’s Trump’s turn to raise his right hand — and this time, there may be no escape hatch.
Careful what precedent you cheer for. It has a way of coming back with handcuffs.
