🧩🎲 This week at Adelaide, we’ve been enjoying some friendly competition and quiet creativity!

From classic Scrabble battles, to giant noughts and crosses in the lounge – there’s been plenty of laughter around the tables. For those who prefer a calmer moment, mindful colouring has given everyone the chance to relax and get creative.

It’s lovely to see our residents joining in together, whether it’s over words, colours, or a giant “X” and “O”!

🌸✨ Today at Adelaide we welcomed Nina from Creative Mojo for a crafty morning!

Residents got hands-on with clay, carefully shaping beautiful flower tea light holders. Once the designs were set, we brought them to life with vibrant powder paints – each one unique, colourful, and full of personality. 🎨🕯️

It was such a joyful session, filled with creativity, laughter, and plenty of painty fingers. A big thank you to Nina for bringing her energy and inspiration into our home! 💛

#✨ Today we welcomed Songs & Smiles into Adelaide, and what a joyful morning it was! ✨

This lovely new children’s class will be joining us every Tuesday from the 7th of October – and we couldn’t be more excited.

We had 10 little ones join us, and together with our residents we:
🎶 Sang songs side by side
🥁 Played musical instruments
💃 Had a little dance at the end
🫧 Chased and popped bubbles (a hit with all ages!)

Afterwards, everyone enjoyed biscuits and fruit, while our residents had the chance to hold the babies – sparking wonderful memories of taking their own children to baby groups years ago. 💛

It was a morning full of laughter, music, and connection across generations – and we can’t wait for many more Tuesdays to come!

🧩🎲 Game Day at Adelaide! 🎲🧩

Today was all about fun and friendly competition here at Adelaide. We spent the morning enjoying a variety of games around the home – from classics that get us thinking to ones that keep us laughing.

One of the highlights was a lively game of Scrabble, where we gathered together to share words, stories, and plenty of giggles.

It’s safe to say, our brains got a workout and our spirits got a lift! 💜

🌞 Friday afternoons at Adelaide 🌿

We made the most of the sunshine with some time out in the garden. Our residents enjoyed checking in on how our vegetables are growing – they’re coming along nicely! 🥕🍅

While we were out there, we even spotted a couple of jumping spiders (and a few of their friends!). This turned into a lovely little learning moment, as we chatted about the different types of spiders and shared some fascinating facts. 🕷️✨

A perfect mix of fresh air, nature, and curiosity. 💚

🎨🐷 Piggybank Painting Fun at Adelaide! 🐷🎨

This morning we got creative with our very own piggybanks! With the music playing in the background, there were plenty of smiles, splashes of colour, and a few dance moves along the way. 💃🕺

Each piggybank turned out unique and full of personality – just like us. What a lovely way to spend the morning together! 💖

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been collecting for our local food bank, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Your kindness and generosity are making a real difference to those in need. 💙

We’ll still be collecting until the last week of September, so there’s still time to drop in any items if you’d like to contribute.

Together, we can spread a little extra care beyond our home and out into the community. 🥫✨

🌸🎶 Flower Fun at Adelaide 🎶🌸

Today our residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon of flower decorating – with plenty of singing and even a little dancing in between! 💃🕺 The room was filled with music, laughter, and colourful blooms, making it a truly joyful activity.

It’s always special to see creativity blossom while the tunes keep spirits high. 🌷✨

🏑✨ Today at Adelaide we had great fun with our tabletop hockey-style ball games! Residents took turns flicking and pushing the ball around the table, keeping it moving non-stop. Lots of laughter, concentration, and a bit of healthy competition filled the room.

It’s amazing how a simple game can bring out such joy, teamwork, and plenty of smiles! 💛

🐾✨ Today Adelaide had a visit from Ron the therapy dog!

With his adorable little face, big personality, and plenty of cuddles to share, he had our residents smiling from ear to ear. 🐶💛

There’s nothing quite like the comfort and joy a therapy dog brings — thank you, Ron, for brightening our day. We can’t wait to see you again soon!

🎉 Chorleywood Manor’s Charity Walk Success! 🌉

Residents and team members at Chorleywood Manor Care Home - Avery Collection recently took on an incredible 10-mile charity walk, crossing 10 London bridges - from Vauxhall Bridge all the way to Tower Bridge - to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Charity ’s new children’s cancer centre.

With amazing determination (and lots of community support), they not only reached their goal of £2,500 but went above and beyond, raising £3,800! 🙌✨

Residents proudly presented the cheque to the GOSH team, sharing stories from their journey and showing that age is no barrier to making a difference. 💪💙

👏 A huge well done to everyone involved - your spirit and generosity will help support life-saving treatments for young cancer patients.

✨Greenholme House Attends Historic Army Graduation Parade 🎓

This week, Client Liaison Manager Charlotte and Home Manager Donna from Greenholme House Care Home - Avery Collection had the privilege of accompanying resident Cameron and his wife Vivienne to the largest graduation parade in the history of the Army Foundation College Harrogate.

The event celebrated the completion of phase one training for over 750 junior soldiers, marking a proud milestone in their journey with the British Army. The parade was attended by General Sir Roly Walker, Chief of the General Staff, and featured a special guest appearance by Gareth Southgate.

It was a true honour to be invited as VIP guests to witness such a remarkable occasion - a day filled with pride, inspiration, and unforgettable memories for all who attended. 🎖️

🤝 Fleet Hall Care Home Team Trek 26 Miles for Alzheimer’s Society 🏃‍♀️

On 2nd August, Fleet Hall Care Home - Avery Collection ’s Louise Smith, Melody Laver-Snape, and Sarah Orr laced up their boots for the Suffolk Coast, walking an incredible 26 miles in 9 hours and raising over £1,400 for Alzheimer's Society.

🙌 Cheered on by the Fleet community - who helped boost funds with a local pub quiz - the team enjoyed stunning views of coastal villages and nature reserves, all while walking for the 900,000+ people in the UK living with dementia.

Louise, General Manager, said: “I’m incredibly proud of my team and what we achieved together. Taking part in this challenge showed just how much we can accomplish when we pull together to make a difference.” 💙

Her passion for crafting delicious, nutritious meals for our residents is second to none, and this recognition is well deserved. 💙🍽️

🏃‍♀️ Alma Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare Raises Over £1400 For Cancer Research UK 🏅

A team of 14 dedicated staff came together to raise funds for Cancer Research by taking part in the Cancer Research UK Race for Life Pretty Muddy event at Weston Park on May 17th.

Led by receptionist and breast cancer survivor Theresa Faulkner, The OTT Girls ran to support others affected by cancer. Theresa’s journey inspired her colleagues to join the cause, with her saying, “I feel overwhelmed by the support from the team at Alma Court. I enjoyed the day, and it was so worth it.” 🙌

💙 The event was more than just a race - it united residents, staff, and families, who generously donated and shared their own experiences with cancer. Covered in mud but full of pride, the team raised £1,496 to help fund vital research.

Home Manager Rachel Hammond said, “I am immensely proud of my team and what they achieved on Saturday. It just shows you what you can do if you put your mind to it.” 🏃‍♀️

The big day is getting closer! On 20th September 2025, Sheena and Jess - senior carers from Lady Jane Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare will be taking to the skies for a cause that means the world to them: raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society.

Every day, they care for people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and their compassion knows no bounds. Now, they’re going above and beyond (literally!) to support vital research and services - and you can be part of their journey.

💙 Communities That Care ✨

Our care homes have been showing true community spirit through a series of inspiring fundraising efforts.

🌊 Southbourne Beach Care Home - Avery Collection unveiled a beautiful mermaid tail sculpture for Great Tail Trail, supporting Julia's House Children's Hospice. Created by resident Penny, with help from Kiera and Alex, the project has a fundraising goal of £750. “It reminded me of painting with my grandchildren,” said Penny.

💇‍♀️ At Merlin Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare, Admin Kelly O’Donnell raised nearly £1,200 for The Little Princess Trust by donating her waist-length hair. “The charity’s work really touched me,” said Kelly. Resident Christine called the gesture “incredibly brave.”

🏃‍♀️ At Chorleywood Manor Care Home - Avery Collection, Care Assistants Wendy and Charmaine completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon, raising over £1,100 for Alzheimer's Society and Dementia UK.

🌉 In their ongoing commitment to charity, residents and staff are now taking on a 10-mile walk across 10 London bridges to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Charity ’s new children’s cancer centre. Join us in wishing them the best of luck on their fundraising journey 🙌

✨ Resident Wishes: Making Dreams Come True at Avon Valley ✨

At Avon Valley Care Home - Avery Healthcare, the team takes pride in helping residents fulfil their long-held wishes and create unforgettable moments in the process 💫

Last month, staff at Avon Valley made Evelyn Prigg’s wish of a day at the seaside come true 🌊

🍦 Evelyn visited Burnham-on-Sea, where she enjoyed all the seaside classics - fish and chips, an ice cream, and a stroll down to the beach 🏖️

As she stepped off the bus, Evelyn beamed and said, “This was my wish; dreams do come true.” ✨

Another incredible wish came to life for 92-year-old Jean Hooper, a lifelong Bristol Rovers supporter who wished to attend a match at the Memorial Stadium. ⚽

Thanks to the generosity of Bristol Rovers, Jean was able to visit the stadium and watch the team play, with tickets provided free of charge.

The club even announced Jean’s visit during the match, celebrating her as a proud “Gashead” 💙.

These wishes remind us of the power of cherished memories and the joy of making dreams come true 🌟
