🤸🏽You’re not doing anything wrong if you wobble during a balancing pose. It’s physiologically impossible to stay completely still, but here are some tips to navigate unsteadiness:
️⃣ Focus your attention on your breath;
️⃣Focus your gaze on a fixed point - if you’re in class, try not to look the person in front of you or the teacher, as they may wobble too;
️⃣Grip onto the mat with your fingers if you’re doing an arm balance. Don’t grip with your toes in a standing balance, try to create a stable base grounding down with all the corners of your foot;
️⃣Practice, practice, practice! Our muscles have memory, and they will learn the more you practice your balancing pose. Don’t be surprised if it’s easier to balance in a standing pose (Tree or Dancer’s) than in an arm balance (Crow or Handstand) - our body is not used to bear weights on our hands, so this requires consistency and practice.
️⃣Embrace the wobbles and be gentle on yourself. Take some rest and repeat.
