An absolute dino-mite 😎 Mucky Pups class today! 🦖🦕 pasta volcanoes, chia slime swamps and muddy ooblek…as one of our grown-ups said, “we always save one washing load for a Friday afternoon” 😂

Just one chance👇left to join us in March next week as we’re then off for a couple of weeks, but will be back in April with a spring in our step! (Hopefully by then anyway!☀️)

🎶 We’ve got no troubles, life is the bubbles, under the seaaa 🎶

We dived head first into the ocean today - from singing and using our instruments with Baby Shark (sorry grown ups, it’s official this *will* be stuck in your head all day!), to scooping, pouring and splashing our way through our sensory messy playtrays. Learning and having fun 🥰🐳🐠⛵️

Little to our very first trial runs of messy play trays (swipe to see our hilarious first attempt at Oobleck - pleased to say it’s improved since 😅).

This week we are going back ‘under the sea’ so you might see some of these trays tomorrow! 😁

Did you know chickpeas are (sort of) one of our most-used tray fillers for our *taste-safe* messy play? Aquafabe, which is the water that the chickpeas are in, can be whipped up to create a foam. We love using it in our trays as the little ones especially enjoy exploring this texture and using the tools to scoop, pour and stir it, helping their fine motor skills.

Using this ingredient means we often end up with chickpeas going spare each week, but they’re definately not wasted! This week we made a chicken and chickpea curry, and - bear with us! - chickpea brownies…yes, really!

Happy New Year to all our Mucky Pups! We are so looking forward to classes being up and running again in 2026! 🥳

But just to let you all know that following a busy December & Christmas period, we have decided to pause for January and resume classes in February.

During the festive season we wanted to just take an opportunity to give a little something back.

The nature of running a taste-safe messy play group does mean that we are of course using food materials every week. We don’t like to think of it as wasting food, as our trays are important for little one’s learning and exploration - and let’s face it, there are lots of snaccidents in our classes each week too 😂🥰 - but we are aware that it can be a luxury to use food in this way.

So with that in mind we bulk-bought some of our most-used ingredients and made a donation to the Bicester Food Bank this week in big Tescos. The bank is run by local people for local people, and they rely on the community’s support to stop people going hungry. If you can spare a tin or two as well during your shop, there are lots of donation points in supermarkets across Bicester, you can find them from checking out their website ☺️
