It was a wonderful event featuring an insightful talk, uplifting performances from our volunteers, and an exciting opportunity to experience the Virtual Boat Tour via VR headsets. 🌟 Recruitment Open Day – Highwood Care Home 🌟

We are delighted to invite you to our Recruitment Open Day on Wednesday, 27th August, from 9:30am to 4:00pm, hosted at Highwood Care Home in Bideford.

At Highwood Care Home we are expanding our team and are now looking for passionate and dedicated people to join us. We currently have exciting opportunities for Nurses, Care Assistants (both experienced and those new to care looking for a change or a new career), and Wellbeing Assistants. Whether you are seeking full-time, part-time, or bank work, we would love to meet you.

On the day, you will be able to meet our friendly team, find out more about life at Highwood, and discover how you could become part of a supportive and rewarding environment. Application forms and job descriptions will be available, and same-day interviews will be offered for those ready to take the next step.

We didnt realise we were creating memories, we just knew we were having fun ❤️.

🍪We've had a 'Hands on' start to the week with Delicious Peanut Butter Cookie Making and a Flower arranging session led by our wonderfully talented Care Assistant Freya 💐

Not only do we want to keep our minds active, but our hands and dexterity too.

💭Making a difference isnt just the physical side of care homes, its those things which make us all feel incredible. Whether its wearing a certain style of clothing, our favourite spritz of perfume or aftershave, throwing on that nice top or enjoying a drink with friends. We all have different views, values and opinions on what makes us feel good...

But having such an impact that we witnessed our wonderful Hairdresser have on one of our amazing residents was just outstanding. Something this resident had wanted for a substantial amount of time, but life got in the way.. well now she's a new woman 💇‍♀️

Did you know here at Highwood, included is a hair appointment and a chiropodist appointment. These arent extra they are included! Holistically these are so incredibly important to wellbeing ❤️

We do have some favourite activities here but today we have enjoyed the busiest zumba with the amazing Roberto!

We are a group who throw ourselves in, but the most energetic being Proud Mary 💙

💙One thing we love about our home is that togetherness and working in line with everyone's strengths and talents. This doesn't just extend to residents, colleagues and relatives but today has confirmed our staff spouses are also full of hidden talents.

A huge huge thank you to Gruff Walton who has designed this bespoke and one of a kind signage for The Highwood Arms! This will look amazing in our pub, which is opened daily between 4pm-5pm.

Thank you to Kerry Walton too for sharing the idea!

So we made it, after 18,000 steps, some wonderful sea views from The Fairway Buoy and raising a fantastic amount of money for Make-A-Wish UK. Our residents and colleagues came together for a fantastic cause 💙

Now to soak the feet, rest those legs as we plan the next one. A huge thank you to everyone who waved, tooted or donated today, we value each and everyone ❤️

And were off again! We are blessed to have some beautiful beaches and scenery a stones throw from the home. So today support Make-A-Wish UK were off on another walking adventure to Westward Ho! community.

If you see a large sunflower 🌻 a fairy 🧚‍♂️ and elements of a cow 🐄 and frog 🐸 give us a toot or a wave!

🍾A Day of celebrations David officially opened The Highwood Arms, where the first drinks were enjoyed! A wonderful occasion, with the hard work from maintenence manager Chris building our bespoke bar and the generosity of the donation of pallets the end results are an inclusive and enjoyable room for residents to enjoy 💙

And then..... A Huge Huge Happy Birthday to our first resident who moved into the home 1st July 2024 Mavis, who's birthday wish was a butler in the buff. Huge thank you to Chay for your sportmanship!
Your wish is our command, We almost got there!!!! Happy Birthday Mavis, may all your birthdays be as amazing as you 💙
