It’s been a hard weekend but that’s how we do it.
Three teams out covering four event since Thursday.
Today we have set up for tomorrow as it’s the Woolsary show. On completion we will depart for Cornwall for a 6 day event.
When that’s over it’s straight back to North Devon to set up for the North Devon Show.
This couldn’t happen if I didn’t have such a great team behind me so that you all.

At 1200 hours today Conrad Goss supported by The North Devon Branch, The Royal Marines Association and Helberg Troop, Commando Logistic Regiment, RM, commenced his epic challenge, that if covering 100 miles no stop in 24 hours.

In his endeavours he is hoping to raise awareness and much needed funds to help The Royal Marines Charity support those in the Royal Marines Family who have experienced a life changing event in the service of their country.

Due to a very busy season we are recruiting.
Medicare Southwest need First Aiders, Emergency Care Assistants and those who are on the FREC pathway or equivalent.

We welcome those who are NHS or Military as a lot of our team are such.

So we cover all sorts of events all over the southwest from School fetes to motor sports, Equine events, community days, food festivals and the list goes on.

It’s been a hard time since COVID however organisers are coming back and they need good cover.

Our starting pay is £11:50 and increases as your grade increases. We also have incentives for some of the events.

We will supply everything you need to start off.
You will work as part of a team and further training will be provided.
This is a self employed role.

So today at the Bideford Water Festival we launched our new treatment Centre.
We had such positive feedback about it and our highly skilled clinicians looked after a variety of people that were needing our help.

What a busy time.
Thank you to all the crews out last weekend and the crew that went to St Austell to pick up an Ambulance.

This week we have staff out on a film set, loads of beacon lighting and D Day events, a food festival and a family day. Oh and a weekend of a London company team building.

Lucky for me I have a great team who go that extra mile. Thank you all. I couldn’t do this without you.

So today I was asked for a price to cover an event.
I worked it out and got back to them.
You have got to be kidding was the reply. That’s 3 times as much as another company.
Ok let’s break this down.
Pay for 4 staff a Paramedic a Technician and 2 others.
Insurance for your event.
Insurance for the vehicles. You asked for 2.
A medical centre fully kitted. 3 Defibrillators
1 complete trauma pack.
3 first aid kits.
Foil blankets
Other blankets
Fluids
O2
Pain relief
A risk assessment
Specialist equipment to recover a casualty.
The kit alone casts £8,000
The staff although a lot of the time maybe don’t do a lot but I can assure you they are ready to go. They are constantly dynamic risk assessing.

And you want to pay a couple of hundred pounds for this.
If someone is doing it on the cheap ask yourself why? How can they do it? What corners are they cutting? Have they got the right equipment for your event?
Are they DBS checked?
Safeguarding trained?
Real qualifications in place?

I don’t mind if you don’t use us. It’s a shame but hey it’s up to you. But please do your risk assessments correctly.

You are responsible for every person that attends you event and if you don’t have everything in place, we’ll you may not see the outside for a while.

We are on the lookout for new people to join our team.
We are especially interested in hearing from First Aiders, ECAs,HCAs and Technicians or the equivalent.
If you feel you would like to join us but you don’t have a qualification, don’t worry as our team instructors will teach you.
Having a keen get up and go is just as important to us.
We cover all sorts of events all over the Southwest and sometimes further afield.

Today a new chapter begins.
Medicare has moved to a new, bigger and better location.
It’s been a very hard month moving, going to London for our new Ambulance and all the new events we took on.
Upwards and onwards.
Myself and Roo Williamson are absolutely shattered and having a couple of days off. Back on Wednesday for normal service.
