December and January updates! Classes as usual 15-19th December then classes restart on Monday the 5th Jan.

Dear Yogi Friends,

That time of year again! 🎄

Classes are running as usual this week, 15–19 December.
There will then be a two-week break, with all classes starting again from Monday 5 January 2026.

There will, however, be a park yoga – whatever the weather! session on
Tuesday 30 December, 9.15–10.00.
Please do bring along any family or visitors — it’s a fun, feel-good class.

Weekly Schedule (from January – unchanged)

Monday 11.00–12.00 – Northam Hall (gentler class)

Tuesday 9.15–10.00 – Whatever-the-weather standing Park Yoga, Bideford

Class Prices

From January, class prices will be:

£6.00 – Northam Hall

£7.00 – Lavington Hall

The TRE workshop in January is now full.
Another workshop has been arranged for Sunday 22 March, 10.00–12.00.

Dear Lovely Yoga Friends,

I hope your Sunday is going well.

Just a quick note to let you know there will be no class next Friday, 21 November, as the hall will be set up for the Christmas Fete. All other classes will run as usual.

Classes will continue as normal until our Christmas and New Year break. There will be no classes from 20 December to 4 January 2026.

Recently we’ve been exploring some really useful breathing practices and how they connect with pelvic floor awareness. A few of you mentioned the NHS “Squeezy” app can be helpful too: https://squeezyapp.com
I’ll also add guidance on our most recent breathing practice, Kapalabhati, to my website (www.bidefordyoga.com) if you’d like to read more about it.

I’m really enjoying the Neurosomatic Intelligence (NSI) course in applied neurology that I’m currently studying, and I’ve been weaving bits of it into our sessions—you may have noticed!

Dear all,

It’s always lovely to see you in class — or to spot some familiar names on my contact list!

Classes are running as usual, and the heating is on in both halls. Still, feel free to bring a blanket for a little extra warmth and comfort.

Please note: there will be no class on Friday, 21 November, as the hall will be used by the Church.

Our Christmas break will likely be from 20 December to 4 January, but I’ll confirm this closer to the time.

Tamsyn and I will also be running another TRE Workshop on Sunday, 18 January, 10:00–12:00 at Northam Hall. These workshops tend to fill up, so do let me know if you’d like to reserve a spot.

Accessory Nerve Slacking Exercise

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been practising the Accessory Nerve Slacking Exercise, and as promised, here are the details. Before you begin, it’s helpful to do a quick assessment and repeat following the exercise so you can notice how your body responds to the drill.

Steps:

Keep the tension gentle — around 1 out of 10.

Tilt your neck toward the side you want to slack.

Glide your neck slightly backward (posterior glide).

Raise and roll forward the shoulder on the same side (elevation and protraction).

Gently nod upwards into neck extension, looking up with your eyes.

Perform 7–10 extension head nods, focusing on looking toward the ceiling.

Do let me have any feedback from your practice and if questions arise I am usually at class in good time and not rushed at the end.

Dear Yogis,

There are classes as usual tomorrow, Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 August but no classes this week at Lavington on Wednesday 20 and Friday 22 August. There will be classes on the Bank Holiday Monday 25 August.

For the first two weeks of September, Northam hall is closed due to fitting a suspended ceiling and new lights for fire regulations. We will again use the council chambers in Windmill Lane. This will be Monday 1, Tuesday 2, Monday 8, Tuesday 9 September.

A blue/teal coloured drinks bottle was left at Lavington on Wednesday last week, if it’s yours do let me know.

Class times are as follows, they haven’t changed.

Dear Yogis,

Just a quick email re dates for classes.

There is no Friday class at Lavington this week 18 July and no classes next Monday 21 July. All other classes during July will be as usual.

In August there will be no class on Wednesday 20 and Friday 22 August but there will be classes on Monday 25 August which is the bank holiday Monday.

I might be away for a few days on a course in September and Northam hall needs to have further fire regulation works so more emails at some point!

There will be a TRE (tension/trauma release exercises) workshop with myself and Tamsyn on Sunday September 21, 10-12pm at Northam Hall, spaces are limited so you will need to book a space if you want to come along. Perhaps email me if you would like more details.

I am loving all my learning at the moment and I thank you for coming along and sharing in the experience. I am also enjoying all the flower growing! Do take some home from a class especially if you haven’t already.

Dear Yogis,
Just a reminder that there are no classes next Monday 30 June. The rest of the week is as usual. There are also no classes on Friday 18 July and Monday 21 July.

I might take some time off in August, so another email probably mid July.

I have been making my own kefir for quite a few years and have grains if anyone wants some. Kefir is very easy to make!

I have had so much pleasure bringing all the flowers to classes, do make sure one week you take some away with you to enjoy.
