The Wooda Surgery The Wooda Surgery is a group practice offering a wide range of medical and nursing services to the Bideford area and beyond. We are on Twitter

The Wooda Surgery is a group practice offering a wide range of medical and nursing services. The team also includes district nurses, midwives and health visitors on attachment from the local trusts. We welcome new patients living within our practice area (for details contact reception on 01237 471071) The surgery is purpose built and there is a pharmacy (leased to Lloyds Chemist) on site. We really value our patients' feedback on all aspects of the services we offer. We are looking at a wide range of ways to feedback information to us. For example it could be as simple as being part of an e-mail group. We would particuarly like to hear from you if you use the surgery reguarly or if you have a long term health condition, a parent of a young family, have a mental health condition or are over the age of 75. There are parking facilities for patients on site but these are limited and we would ask for your co-operation in parking within the areas marked out. Please be aware that parking is prohibited in Ethelwynne Brown Close and this is monitored by the local council. There is a large public car park adjacent to the surgery on Barnstaple St. With effect from 1st April 2013, the practice is regulated by the Care Quality Commission, for more information please go to www.cqc.org.uk

Emergency Alerts Test – Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm

What to know:
The UK Government will be running a test of the Emergency Alerts system at 3 pm on Sunday 7 September.

Phones and tablets that are compatible will emit a loud siren-like sound and vibrate, even if on silent.

You do not need to take any action during the alert — it's just a test.

This system is designed to warn you of local dangers like severe weather or other emergencies.

Important advice for those at risk of coercive control or domestic abuse: If you’re caring for someone who has a concealed phone or you're in a situation where unexpected alerts could cause harm, it’s vital to be aware and prepared.

Want to opt out?
You can turn off the Emergency Alerts for your device via this official page: gov.uk/alerts/opting-out

Need support or guidance? Leeds Women’s Aid offers tailored information and help on this:

Why it's important:
Regular testing keeps the system reliable in real emergencies, when lives may depend on it.

Stay informed, stay safe.
