Combining Eastern Mind-Body Practices.

How are meditation, qi gong and tai chi practised together?

Meditation, Qi Gong, and Tai Chi are all practices that originate from traditional Chinese medicine and philosophy. While they are distinct practices, they can be practiced together to create a comprehensive mind-body practice.

Here is an example of how these practices can be combined:

Begin with meditation: Find a quiet and comfortable place to sit, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Observe your thoughts as they come and go, but don't engage with them. Try to stay present in the moment and let go of any distractions.

Move on to Qi Gong: Qi Gong involves a series of gentle movements, postures, and breathing exercises designed to improve the flow of energy (qi) in the body. Begin with some simple exercises, such as "embracing the tree" or "cloud hands," and focus on coordinating your movements with your breath.

Finish with Tai Chi: Tai Chi is a slow, flowing martial art that emphasizes balance, coordination, and mindfulness. Start with a basic routine, such as the "24-form," and move through the postures with intention and focus.

Combining these practices can create a powerful mind-body practice that promotes relaxation, mental clarity, and physical health.

Are you suffering from mild, or chronic pain?
Meditation can help relieve pain by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and changing the way the brain perceives pain. When an individual meditates, they focus their attention on the present moment and learn to observe their thoughts and sensations without judgment. This can help them become more aware of their body and how it responds to pain, and can help reduce the intensity of the pain they experience. Additionally, meditation can help reduce inflammation in the body, which can contribute to pain, and can also help individuals develop greater emotional resilience and coping skills, which can help them better manage their pain over time ❤️

Hello 😊
I hope you are all enjoying a lovely week. Saturday’s Intro to Meditation day was such a success. Thank you to everyone who came along. It was wonderful meeting lovely new people too. We are really hoping some of you will be joining us on Tuesday evenings for our new group that is starting in Alcester on 11th April.

This Friday, at Feckenham, we will be doing two sitting meditations. In our second meditation, we will be experimenting with using a mantra as an anchor rather than the breath. This is a great way of stilling the mind and finding a calm and peaceful place to rest within. It is a simple practice that doesn’t require any visualisation, so is often popular with new meditators too.
Looking forward to seeing you all.

Managing fear through meditation.
Meditation can be a powerful tool for managing fear and anxiety. Here are a few ways that meditation can help:

1. Promotes relaxation: Meditation can help you relax your body and mind, reducing the physical symptoms of fear and anxiety such as muscle tension, elevated heart rate, and sweating.

2. Increases self-awareness: Through meditation, you can become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. This increased self-awareness can help you recognize when you are feeling fear or anxiety and develop strategies to manage it.

3. Cultivates mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment without judgment. Meditation can help you cultivate mindfulness, which can help you stay calm and focused in the face of fear.

4. Builds resilience: Regular meditation practice can help you develop resilience, which is the ability to bounce back from difficult situations. This can help you manage fear more effectively.

Overall, meditation can help you develop the skills you need to manage fear and anxiety in a healthy way. It's important to remember that meditation is a practice, and it may take time and consistent effort to see results.

We are also very excited about seeing those of you who have booked onto our Introduction to Meditation course. It should be a lovely day of relaxation and mindfulness ❤️

If you have missed out on this event, don’t worry; we have more events planned over spring and summer. These events are not driven by a specific faith or belief system, so you can be of any faith, or none, to appreciate the day. It’s just a lovely opportunity to consider and practice peace, quiet, calm and compassion in a busy and frantic world ❤️
