In January 2024, Kate picked up a serious knee injury playing netball. After a long year of scans, appointments and uncertainty, she had ACL and meniscus surgery in January 2025.

Since then, she’s worked closely with Luke at the Hub, following a structured rehab plan and progressing step by step - rebuilding strength, confidence and trust in her knee.

She’s now back to full training and has even beaten her pre-injury 5K and 10K time.

A great reminder of what patience, consistency and the right support can do. Well done Kate!

🚫 Myth busted: Running is bad for your knees and leads to arthritis.

Research actually shows that recreational running does not increase your risk of knee arthritis — and may even help keep your joints healthier by strengthening the muscles around them and supporting cartilage health.

✅ The real key?
Gradual training, good strength work, and listening to your body. Sudden spikes in mileage and ignoring persistent pain are far more likely to cause problems than running itself.

Run smart, build strength, and your knees will thank you!

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Luke, our Clinic Lead Practitioner and Sports Therapist, and sharing a few recent highlights from his professional and personal journey at the Hub.

Luke has recently launched an exciting new venture with his brother: FLIX Gymnastics Bedford, based at Putnoe Primary School. The club opened in January and aims to deliver high-quality gymnastics training across recreational and competitive programmes. Don’t worry - Luke isn’t leaving us! Sessions run in the evenings and at weekends.

Alongside this, Luke is busy wedding planning with his fiancée Kelly, with their big day coming up in July - very exciting times! 💍

Luke has been part of the Hub team for nearly eight years and plays a key role in leading the clinic, supporting our team, and helping shape the next generation of clinicians through student placements.

We’re incredibly proud of Luke and love seeing him thrive both at the Hub and in the wider community.
