It’s World Osteopathic Healthcare Week, did you know there are more than 200,000 osteopaths and osteopathic physicians around the globe.

Osteopaths and osteopathic physicians generally deliver multifactorial, complex interventions as a comprehensive package of care. This fits with the growing demand from international health agendas.

The profession aims to improve overall patient wellbeing, considering the biological, sociological, psychological and spiritual needs of people as part of their local communities as well as addressing health globally.

Osteopathic professionals provide care, input and advice across a range of sectors including advisory roles in the fields of government, international health, sports, education, rehabilitation, occupational health, safety and ergonomic design - not just individual health care.

⚠️ FOR URGENT SHARING ⚠️

With immediate effect, people who are identified as ‘clinically extremely vulnerable’ have been advised to shield until further notice if they are in Tier 4 in Essex.

However, there is a real risk that some of those who are most vulnerable may not see the text message in the image below.

We are asking one simple thing from all of our followers - please share this post. Also, if you know anyone who is classed as ‘clinically extremely vulnerable,’ please make sure that they see this and get the word out in your local community.

This link explains more about who exactly needs to shield, and what this will involve: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19

Also, we want to let you all know that the Essex Wellbeing Service is ‘locked and loaded’ and ready to help those who need it the most. Please do not hesitate to call them on 0300 303 9988 if you or anyone you know requires support as described in the text message below.

Don’t forget they can also be reached by email at provide.essexwellbeing@nhs.net

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR CARERS: This text message is also being sent out.

“We are also offering the opportunity for your carer/partner to have weekly Covid tests to help keep you safe. They just need go to https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test and tick “asked by council” and order a postal test. This will be sent to them and they can return it. Regular weekly repeats of the test would be appropriate.”

'Test and Trace' is a different programme to 'Track and Trace'. Even the media keep interchanging the two! *Track* and Trace is the phone app which may or may not come into fruition (you can have your own opinions and conspiracy therories on that...!).

However, *Test* and Trace is the process being run whereby if you are confirmed as a case of Covid-19 (positive test result) you are asked to provide the details (only name and phone number) people that you had contact with from 2 days prior to your symptoms starting. After your test, you will be invited to fill in this information online via a text or email. If you don't follow the link on the invitation to fill these details in yourself after 24 hours, you will be automatically put on the list to be called by the *Test* and Trace service caseworkers. The caseworker will go through the online form with you to fill in the details of your contacts. Any contacts will then be phoned by a *Test* and Trace caseworker and asked to self-isolate for 14 days. The people who are called and advised that they are contacts will never be told who the confirmed case is that they may have caught it from.

This is a vital system to slow/prevent further spread of Covid-19, and to keep your friends and family safe. It's horrible hearing/seeing all these con-artists taking advantage of this situation, but it's absolutely terrible to be hearing/seeing all the disbelief and mistrust that is being attributed to an official service that will help us get back to and maintain some kind of normal!

Keep well and keep safe.

It's National Volunteers week and we want to give a shout out to all the incredible members of the Billericay Dementia Action Alliance! 👏

They are all volunteers and the hours they give tirelessly to support residents in Billericay to make the town truly dementia friendly has made a real impact. 👏

Great things have been achieved this last year and here's to many more! 😁👍
