A Monday morning full of insightful conversations, ideas & inspiration ~ meeting with our website designer and filming team to review & plan some unique, exciting collaborations ~ to further our impact in the community for the understanding of the unique support provided by Dandelion Farewells.

Last year we launched a library of short films & reels (link in comments below) ~ and now we’re creating a second phase of films to provide more practical information and interviews.

Late last night (10.40pm) Dame Caroline Dinenage MP (Gosport) presented an Adjournment Debate in the House of Commons on ‘The potential merits of reforming the regulation of funeral directors’.

Currently, there is no regulation of the funeral director sector and options for instating minimum training/qualifications/premises status need to be addressed.
I have always encouraged people to research the funeral director to engage; we are very open to people visiting all the areas of our premises and see the professional standards we uphold.

“To plan: to decide, arrange or formulate in detail a method of doing something in the future. It involves thinking through steps, mapping or designing, often aiming to achieve a specific goal or to anticipate future needs.”

Ponder funeral options and make a note of your preferences or definite dislikes. Drop snippets of details in a chat with a friend, or write a document of clear wishes ~ but get the conversation underway.
Ultimately, those closest to you just want to do the right thing for you… but they don’t know what this will be if you don’t let them know…

Returning to the theme of one of our community talks: lining-up your ducks! We spend so much time, effort and expense researching, planning and investing in big moments and financial commitments to fulfil things that are important to us.
Perhaps too, it’s our responsibility and gift to make arrangements for preferences and/or finance for our funeral…
We liaise with Open Prepaid Funerals Limited for those who want to set-aside finance for their funeral, tailoring a bespoke plan according to your choices.

Day 3 of our daily messages:
From Sarah: “Our family was recently visited by Judith from Dandelion Farewells, who facilitated a conversation around my mother’s funeral wishes with grace and ease. I think it could have been a difficult conversation without Judith being there, but it went so well, and I now have a clearer idea of what my mother would like when she dies.
This has given all of us such peace of mind, and I know, when the time comes, I know what my mums wishes are.
It was so much easier than I thought it would be, to have the conversation, and we are all so glad to have done it - it was painless, interesting, and at times we were all laughing.
It has made me think about what my wishes are too.
I can’t think why we don’t all automatically do this as a matter of course!”

It’s 🌿 National Funeral Planning Awareness Week ~ 23rd February - 1st March 2026 🌿

Starting the conversation for funeral wishes can feel difficult, but it often brings reassurance ~ helping people feel more confident, informed and supported when the time comes. Taking a little time now to share preferences can ease pressure later and ensure that decisions reflect what matters most to you.

Independent funeral directors play a vital role in these conversations; many have developed useful resources and can signpost to other tools, too. Through local knowledge, personal care and trusted relationships, we help individuals explore choices at their own pace and in ways that feel comfortable.

Take a first step to start the conversation this week. Pop in to collect our ‘My Wishes, My Way’ questionnaire, and/or resources provided by The Good Funeral Guide CIC which we have available to take away.

This week encourages open and honest conversations about funeral wishes ~ conversations that can feel difficult, but often bring great comfort and reassurance.
Planning ahead allows your wishes to be known, helps ease the emotional and practical burden on loved ones, and gives families the time and space to focus on remembering, rather than making decisions under pressure.

At Dandelion Farewells we’re not big fans of the conventional, structured ‘package’ approach of traditional funeral plans, choosing only to partner with Open Prepaid Funerals Limited, but in support of the intentions of this focused week, we’ll be sharing what we hope is practical, helpful resources.

A pause to reflect… this time last year we marked a special milestone for Dandelion Farewells ~ our tenth anniversary ~ so now we are 11!
2025 was a whirlwind year of change, growth and connections. New colleagues joined us, new premises opened, we furthered our provision for compassionate funeral care and bereavement support in our community.
Thank you to all who support us and the people who entrust our team to guide and facilitate their funeral choices.

Based in West Sussex, Dandelion Farewells is proud to serve our local community in Surrey and West Sussex. We will collect the person that has died and care for them until the day of the funeral. On the day of the funeral, we will transport the coffin in our modern vehicle and provide staff to carry...

Today, we completed our remembrance area at St Peter ad Vincula Church, Wisborough Green ~ gathered all the tribute stars and brought them to Dandelion Farewells to be placed within our Memories Jars ~ we honour each individual message 🤍 always remembered.
