An amazing experience to join many in the area to highlight Cruse Bereavement Support and be alongside my eldest son who even ran to the finish line!! He completed 26.2 miles for his school trip to Peru … (I managed 24.2 miles before my post baby pelvis gave up. 😫)

🧡 This flower was held by the widower throughout today’s service… and then he placed it upon his wife’s coffin on the way out… a simple yet very poignant moment for all in the room who enabled him to attend.
Even my chin wobbled…🥹

In 💙 for a “Hero” today… to match the Funeral Director’s tie!

🕚🕛 Today’s family booked a “Double Slot” at the Crematorium for extra time - and therefore we also got the location to ourselves.

Extra time at a crematorium enables:
- more about your person to be shared,
- time at the beginning and extra logistics
- an unhurried service and ending
- ability to then talk to those who attended outside before inevitably another grieving family and hearse arrives.

My eldest son is joining me walking the on Sunday April 26th

He’s fundraising for his school trip to Peru, South America.
He’s going to volunteer for 1 month after his GCSE’s with

I’m walking with many others who I work alongside in the area for

💜 CRUSE Bereavement Support is close to my heart as I often give their resources to bereaved families.

Each child that attends a funeral I officiate I personalise a ‘grief bag’ for them with CRUSE resources within.

I picked one of my “Jenny” Narcissus daffodils growing outside my office, brought it along, and placed it upon the coffin alongside others before I begun the service.

At the end of today’s crematorium service close family wanted a private final moment, and took photos of the beautiful wicker coffin surrounded by colourful floral tributes.
It was a poignant final moment to capture, and personally witness.
