What an honour it was to support another person recently through their ‘unfathomable day’…

The privilege of dwelling alongside people in their grief, supporting them through a difficult season, and their person’s funeral service never ceases to humble me. 💛💜

☕️ Collaboration not competition…

✍️ Lovely to pause from writing a funeral service to have a coffee from with a local celebrant training to officiate funerals. Celebrant Mounira: House of Modern Rituals

I remember when I was training years back and kindly met me for a coffee!

All celebrants bring a unique slant to their services. I recognise I’m not everyone’s cup of tea.

🕊 A single white dove was released at the end of today’s celebration of life service…!

I wore 🤍💛 to match the flowers created by The Flower Basket in Sandwich with a hint of blue and hearts on my dress. 💙

Needing to plan your family member’s Funeral service- but you live out of the area…?

I recently met with 2 siblings who’d travelled into the area to be together to plan their sibling’s service.

I met them instead The waves bar and cafe bnb a neutral place they had connection with. ☕️

I try and flex if your specifically in the area to meet with a Funeral Director- or I could video call you instead.

Within the grounds I watched many 🦋as I thought about the many locally bereaved families I have had the honour to support who were cared for by Pilgrims Hospice.

Qu: WHERE do you create your funeral services…?

In my “shed of sunshine,” which is painted floor to ceiling in… 🟨 😂☀️

When the children are at school, or in bed, I retreat outside.

It’s my personal office space, filled with everything I need for all things funerals, lots of colour, and a wall pinned with thank you cards from bereaved families. Each one treasured.

I currently have sweet peas growing in memory of my Grandma as she grew them. Their colour and smell currently makes me smile when I walk in to write a service.

📞 Sometimes I have to connect with bereaved families over a phone call than in person due to distance. (Meeting them in person on the day of the funeral instead).

✍️ It is always an honour to listen on the phone, and then reflect our conversation back on paper.

📝 Drafting a Lifestory/eulogy for a family for me always starts with words, phrases and quotes directly spoken by the family. I add no embellishments or waffle.
