NHS Wirral Talking Therapies is a free, confidential NHS talking therapy service, available to anyone who is aged 16+ and registered with a GP in the Wirral. We can support you if you are experiencing a common mental health problem, such as:

Low mood or depression
Generalised anxiety disorder
Health anxiety
Social anxiety
Stress
Panic
Phobias
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Mental health problems related to long-term health conditions
Bereavement and loss
Relationship difficulties
Family problems
Body dysmorphia
Disordered eating patterns
Struggles during pregnancy and up to one year after birth, including support for partners

Talking therapies can help you to understand and work through difficult feelings and to develop strategies for coping better. We offer a range of talking therapies, including:

Guided self-help based on CBT
Digital CBT
CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy)
Counselling
Couple therapy
EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing)
Interpersonal therapy (IPT)

💬 Thinking about starting therapy? Let’s talk about readiness.

Beginning therapy is a positive step — but it’s also completely normal to feel unsure, nervous, or not quite ready. Therapy works best when you feel able to engage, even if things still feel difficult.

At NHS Wirral Talking Therapies, we often talk about commitment and readiness not as perfection, but as small, realistic intentions:
✨ Being open to exploring your thoughts and feelings
✨ Being willing to attend sessions regularly
✨ Being prepared for ups and downs along the way
✨ Being honest with your therapist about what’s working — and what isn’t
✨ Being kind to yourself as you grow

You don’t need to feel “100% ready.”
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You just need a willingness to try, at your own pace.

Today our Community Officer, Amy, had the pleasure of attending the Collabor8 event at the Floral Pavilion, hosted by Invigor8.

At NHS Wirral Talking Therapies, we’re committed to staying connected with local organisations to help provide the best possible support for our patients. We know how important it is to look after both your mental and physical health.

If you’re currently on our waiting list or receiving treatment with us, you may be eligible for a discounted Active Wirral gym membership for three months. This includes full access to Wirral Council Leisure Centres, gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, and more.

Ramadan has begun! 🌙

Ramadan is considered one of the most spiritual times of the Islamic calendar. It recognises one of the five pillars of Islam, which is fasting - but it's also a month of spiritual and charitable practices.

Many of our colleagues, friends, and the people we support will be observing the month - so we were thrilled when our colleagues, Alisha and Helena, approached us with the idea of creating a guide! This guide will help to:

- Raise awareness on Ramadan
- Share guidance around how to better support colleagues
- And also, on how to ask for support!
