The new 'Best Start in Life' parent hub brings together information, trusted advice and guidance for parents on everything from pregnancy, early education and childcare, right through to starting school and beyond.

Parents can also access a variety of helpful features on the hub, including an eligibility checker to determine what childcare support they might qualify for, a link to the Breakfast Clubs map checker to find if their child’s school offers free Breakfast Clubs, and a link to the Family Hubs checker to find their local Family Hub.

Although routine invitations stop after age 71, you can still self-refer every 3 years for a free breast screening.

If you are registered at this practice, Breast Screening appointments will shortly be sent out to women aged 50 and upwards to their 71st birthday.

You will automatically receive an appointment for your Breast Screening which will be at Clatterbridge Hospital or St Catherine's Health Centre. If the time or date is not convenient, please contact the Breast Screening Office on 0151 482 7661 and we will do our best to provide an alternative.

If any reasonable adjustments are required for your appointment due to a disability, please call and we can make longer appointments to accommodate.

If you are aged 71 or over, you are still at risk of breast cancer. Although you will no longer receive screening invitations after your 71st birthday, you can still have breast screening every 3 years - please ring the Breast Screening Office for an appointment on 0151 482 7661.

Dementia Information and Support

On 3rd September 2025, the Stein Centre at St Catherine’s will be hosting the first in a series of Post Diagnostic sessions run by the Alzheimer’s Society, for people who’ve been going through the process of dementia diagnosis, and for carers.

The sessions are on the first Wednesday of each month from September to December, from 3.00 to 4.30pm. During the sessions, Dementia Advisers will be providing information and helpful tips, and there will be an opportunity to speak to them confidentially. Please arrive early.

Booking is not required, however it is requested that you email wirral@alzheimers.org.uk in advance so that the organisers can keep track of numbers and ensure that no one is disappointed.

Test of the Emergency Alert Service.

The Government will be running a test of the Emergency Alert Service on 7th September at 15:00 hours. This test should make mobile phones vibrate and make a siren sound for 10 seconds while displaying a message even if they are set to silent.

There are a number of resources online offering guidance on how to disable the alert if this is necessary for the person’s safety (an action that should only be taken if essential).

❗ The workshop is not accredited, but it is a free and simple way to improve first aid knowledge and to build confidence
