The Mirena Coil And Why It’s Pushed

For many women, the Mirena coil is presented as a near perfect solution.

Heavy bleeding? Mirena.
Perimenopause symptoms? Mirena.
Estrogen dominance? Mirena.
Endometrial protection with HRT? Mirena.

It is offered so routinely that few women are ever invited to question why it has become the default answer.

The Mirena does not heal estrogen dominance.
It suppresses the consequences of it

The Mirena releases a synthetic progestin (levonorgestrel) directly into the uterus. Its primary effects are local, thinning the endometrial lining, suppressing bleeding and overriding estrogens proliferative effect on the uterus.
From a clinical perspective, this looks like control but from our bodily perspective, it is containment.

The estrogen is still there....
The inflammatory signaling is still there....
The gut liver insulin axis that created the imbalance is still there....

It has simply been muted at the tissue level.

From a medical system standpoint, the Mirena is:

• Fast
• Predictable
• Reduces liability
• Minimises the risk of endometrial hyperplasia
• Requires no investigation into metabolism, gut health, insulin resistance, or nervous system state

It is a risk management tool and not a healing tool.

Doctors are not trained to ask why estrogen dominance exists.
They are trained to prevent its downstream complications.

And so the Mirena becomes the solution because it fits the system, and not because it restores health.

Now for the information that every women needs to know before she agrees to the coil. Estrogen dominance is rarely caused by too much estrogen

It is most often caused by:
• Impaired liver detoxification
• Gut dysbiosis (especially Prevotella overgrowth)
• Poor bile flow
• Insulin resistance
• Chronic inflammation
• Nervous system dysregulation

When estrogen cannot be detoxed and excreted properly, it is recirculated.
When insulin is high, aromatase activity increases.
When the gut is inflamed, the estrobolome reactivates estrogen that should have left the body.

The Mirena does not touch any of this.

It simply blocks the tissue response while the internal environment remains unchanged.

Many women report that after Mirena insertion:
• bleeding improves
• but anxiety increases
• libido drops
• mood flattens or darkens
• weight increases
• inflammation persists
• histamine reactions worsen

This is classic synthetic progestin versus natural progesterone.

Synthetic progestins do not behave like natural progesterone.
They do not calm the nervous system.
They do not support GABA.
They do not improve insulin sensitivity.
They do not heal the gut.

They override....

And the body always pays a price for override.

But estrogen dominance will be resolved when the metabolic environment changes.

When women eat a species appropriate diet:
• insulin drops
• bile flow improves
• the gut microbiome shifts
• Prevotella reduces
• Bacteroides becomes dominant
• estrogen is properly detoxed and excreted
• inflammation falls
• nervous system tone stabilises

In this environment, estrogen and progesterone rebalance naturally.

This is why many women who restore metabolic health:
• no longer bleed excessively
• no longer need uterine suppression
• tolerate far lower HRT doses
• or no longer need hormonal intervention at all

Not because hormones were the problem but because the system was.

So you might now wonder if the Mirena is ever appropriate?

Yes.

There are situations where it can be a temporary containment tool
• severe bleeding with anaemia
• acute endometrial risk
• when metabolic repair is not yet possible

But it should never be presented as a cure.
And it should never replace addressing the root cause.

The Mirena represents a wider issue in women’s health because we are being offered management instead of restoration.

We are told our bodies are failing,
when in reality they are responding intelligently to an unhealthy environment.

Estrogen dominance is not a defect.
It is a message

And messages do not need suppression.
They need to be understood.

When we change the environment, the body recalibrates and when the body recalibrates, the symptoms no longer need silencing.

That is the work of The Wild Way.
And once you see it, you cannot unsee it.....
