🚗🌟 Darren Achieves a Major Milestone! 🌟🚗

We are so proud of Darren from Oakleigh, who has reached one of his main goals — passing his driving theory test! 🎉

Darren has been working incredibly hard, learning everything he needs to know about driving and road safety. His determination and focus show just how much he wants to prove that having a learning disability does not limit what he can achieve.

His next goal? Passing his practical driving test, which he has booked for the new year! Darren’s dream is to be able to visit his family regularly and take them out for days out, whether shopping or lunch, and we know he’ll make it happen.

🌟 Outcomes Achieved:
• Building confidence and independence
• Demonstrating commitment, focus, and perseverance
• Achieving personal goals and aspirations
• Promoting wellbeing, pride, and self-belief

Well done, Darren! We are so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and can’t wait to cheer you on in your next milestone. 💛

⛳🏆 Swinging Success at the Golf Championship!

Every Friday, the people we support attend the Mark Butler Golf Academy, receiving lessons from a professional golfer. This year, their hard work and dedication paid off when they were invited to participate in the Golf Championship for Learning Disability and Autism!

Competing against other teams, they played the 1st and 9th holes, working together and supporting one another as a team. Their teamwork and skill earned them 3rd place out of 5 teams — a fantastic achievement!

The championship also provided a valuable opportunity to socialise with other groups, sharing experiences, discussing their progress, and enjoying time on the driving range. Social interaction is crucial for people with learning disabilities and autism, helping to:
• Build confidence and communication skills
• Foster a sense of belonging and inclusion
• Reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation
• Promote overall wellbeing and mental health

We are incredibly proud of their teamwork, determination, and achievements — on and off the course! 💛

🎭✨ Oakleigh Lodge Christmas Pantomime! ✨🎭

Every year, the people we support at Oakleigh Lodge used to enjoy going to see a Christmas pantomime — until Covid changed everything. But they didn’t let that stop the festive fun! Instead, they decided to perform their own pantomime, starting with video recordings in the lounge, scripts in hand, and plenty of rehearsals.

Since then, it has grown into a live annual event at the local church, where families and friends come to watch the performance. We adapt scripts so everyone can participate, including Makaton signing, Braille scripts, picture formats, and peer support. Past performances have even featured surprise guests — like chickens! 🐓

This year’s pantomime focuses on the true meaning of Christmas, and the people we support are working hard to learn their lines, practice songs, and bring joy to everyone watching. The excitement, teamwork, and confidence-building involved make it one of the most special events of the year.

🌟 Outcomes Achieved:
• Promoting social interaction, teamwork, and collaboration
• Encouraging creativity, self-expression, and confidence
• Inclusive participation using Makaton, Braille, and picture formats
• Building connections with families and the community
• Creating memorable experiences and festive joy

We can’t wait to share the magic of this year’s pantomime! 💛

🎄✨ Feeling Festive and Grateful at Moorlands House! ✨🎄

This year, we had the pleasure of organising our staff and PWS Christmas Party, complete with Secret Santa, a Best Gingerbread House competition, and a fun raffle — raising money for Save the Children! 🥳❤️

Staff and PWS also got creative baking gingerbread biscuits, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. To soak up the festive spirit, we visited The Piece Hall, exploring the Christmas markets, decorations, and atmosphere.

We’re also collecting donations for Bradford Royal Infirmary, supporting the Oncology Ward, Children’s Ward, and elderly patients. If you’d like to contribute or donate items, please get in touch — your kindness truly makes a difference this season. 🎁💖

🌟 Outcomes Achieved:
• Encouraging social engagement, teamwork, and festive fun
• Promoting creativity and shared activities through baking
• Supporting wellbeing and happiness through community events
• Raising awareness and contributing to charitable causes

Wishing everyone a warm, joyful, and magical festive season! 🎅🏼✨

🌟 Celebrating Lydia’s Achievement! 🌟

Lydia from Paxton House has made incredible progress in managing situations that previously caused her anxiety — and a recent trip to the local garage proved just how far she’s come!

Collecting the house car required a short bus ride and a steep walk, followed by a wait in the garage. Previously, waiting would have been overwhelming for Lydia, often requiring two staff to keep her calm. This time, she made herself completely at ease — taking her shoes and socks off and relaxing in the waiting room. A quick trip to the local shop for a well-earned milkshake kept her spirits high, and she returned to the garage ready to leave straight away.

🌟 Outcomes Achieved:
• Demonstrating patience and managing anxiety in a community setting
• Building confidence and independence in everyday tasks
• Engaging positively with staff and the community
• Showing resilience and achieving personal goals

Lydia continues to amaze us — proving there are no limits to what she can achieve with time, support, and patience. Well done, Lydia, we are so proud of you! 💛

💃🎶 Disco Fun at Paxton House! 🎶💃

Since moving into Paxton House at the beginning of November, Chloe has been delighting everyone with her lively personality — and recently gave us all a glimpse of her hidden talent!

During one of our random singing and dancing sessions, Chloe suddenly exclaimed “Work, work, work” — a reference to her favourite Rihanna song. When staff played it, Chloe went straight into a dance routine that had everyone laughing, smiling, and joining in. The impromptu disco became a wonderful moment of shared joy, music, and movement, giving us a fantastic insight into Chloe’s character.

🌟 Outcomes Achieved:
• Building relationships and social connections with fellow housemates and staff
• Encouraging self-expression, creativity, and confidence
• Promoting wellbeing, joy, and fun in the home environment
• Supporting Chloe as she settles into her new home

Moments like these remind us just how important fun, spontaneity, and shared experiences are in building community and connection at Paxton House. 💛

🎄✨ The Festive Season Begins at Heath Lodge! ✨🎄

Our favourite time of the year has finally arrived, and this December, Heath Lodge is going all out! With a full month of carefully planned activities — brilliantly organised by our wonderful Support Workers Chanice, Ann, and Gail — we’re ready for a festive season full of connection, creativity, and sparkle.

We’re taking part in this year’s 12 Days of Christmas event… but in true Heath Lodge style, we’ve expanded it to 24 Days of Christmas! It’s been heartwarming to see the people we support involved in every step of the planning.

We kicked off December in the coziest way: everyone settled in the lounge with hot chocolate and mince pies, enjoying the soft glow of the Christmas tree lights. Colin, Brian, Leo, Steven, and Werner joined together around the table and on the sofa to relax and watch a Christmas movie. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and full of festive cheer.

🌟 Outcomes Achieved:
• Promoting social engagement and group participation
• Encouraging creativity and involvement in planning activities
• Supporting wellbeing, comfort, and seasonal happiness
• Building community, connection, and shared joy

Here’s to a month of cosy evenings, shared laughter, and magical festive memories at Heath Lodge! 💛
