Is your knee clicking, aching, or giving you grief? That frustrating knee pain doesn't have to be a part of your daily life.

If you're experiencing any of these common symptoms, it's your body's way of telling you something isn't right:

 General soreness around the kneecap after a walk or run

At our Birkenhead clinic, we don't just treat the pain – we find the root cause. Our expert assessment will figure out why your knee is unhappy. Our goal is to give you a long-term solution, not just a temporary fix.

*** SOUND ON ***

When your back twists into an “S” shape — what’s really happening? Ever found yourself suddenly leaning to one side, unable to straighten up properly? That “S-shaped” posture is your body’s way of protecting itself — a postural spasm. It can happen when:

A ligament in your spine becomes irritated or sprained — your body shifts position to take pressure off the injured area.
There’s weakness or imbalance in your glute muscles, which causes your back to overwork and tighten up to compensate.

While it can look worrying, this reaction is actually your body’s smart way of reducing pain and guarding against further injury.

✅ What to do next:

Don’t try to straighten up by force — that can make things worse. Instead, book an appointment with Jason at Focus Physio. He’ll assess what’s causing the spasm, help calm things down, and get you moving comfortably again.

If you’ve experienced this before, you’re not alone — your body’s just asking for a little help! Book your session today and get your posture back on track: Just DM us now.

Did you know? A UK survey found that 34% of people reported neck pain within the past year, and 20% within the past week.

Neck pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints, often linked to posture, work-related strain, or underlying conditions. Left untreated, it can significantly impact quality of life and daily function. At Focus Physio, Jason provides evidence-based assessment and treatment tailored to your needs — helping you restore mobility, reduce pain, and prevent recurrence.

Always stretching your hamstrings but they still feel like guitar strings?

Here’s the plot twist: they might not even be the real problem. Weak glutes can force your ham strings to pick up the slack, which makes them feel tight 24/7.

Top tip: fire up those glutes (think bridges, clamshells, squats) and watch your hamstrings chill out without endless stretching. The body’s sneaky like that — it’s all connected.

The Role of Taping in Physiotherapy. You may have noticed that, during some treatments, we apply specialist tape to certain areas of the body. But why? Taping is used as part of a broader rehabilitation plan and can provide several benefits:

Postural feedback – tape acts as a gentle reminder to adjust alignment, helping patients maintain better posture throughout the day.
Support without restriction – it provides external support to joints and muscles while still allowing full range of motion.
Pain management – by reducing strain on affected tissues, taping can alleviate discomfort during recovery.
Enhanced circulation – certain taping techniques can promote lymphatic flow, reducing swelling and aiding healing.

While taping is not a standalone solution, when combined with targeted exercise and manual therapy, it can be a valuable tool in the recovery and prevention of musculoskeletal issues.

At Focus Physio Birkenhead, we tailor treatment plans to each individual — and taping is just one of the many techniques we may use to help you move better and recover faster.

Posture Matters. Spending more time at your desk, on the sofa, or glued to your phone?

Poor posture can creep up on us all — but a few simple exercises can make a big difference. Here are 3 you can try today:

1️⃣ Shoulder Blade Squeeze
Sit tall, gently draw your shoulder blades back and down. Hold for 5 seconds, repeat 10
times.
2️⃣ Chest Opener Stretch
Stand in a doorway, place hands on the frame, and lean forward slightly to stretch tight chest
muscles. Hold 20–30 seconds.
3️⃣ Wall Angels
Stand with your back against the wall, arms bent at 90°. Slowly raise and lower your arms as
if making a “snow angel.” Great for strengthening postural muscles.

✨ Small steps daily = long-term benefits for your spine and shoulders. Need personalised guidance? Jason at Focus Physio Birkenhead is here to help you stay strong, mobile, and pain-free.

“I came to Jason early this year with pain in both my knees. I was convinced I had more serious structural issues with my knees as the pain had got worse over a long period of time and now was affecting my everyday life. Bending to put washing in the washing machine or climbing the stairs was very painful. After ruling out structural problems, Jason, through his physio work along with acupuncture, transformed my knee pain. During the course of the sessions, I felt a huge decrease in the pain in both my knees. The normalised function and movement. I am now able to do would have been something I'd only dreamed of a year ago. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jason if you are looking for a physiotherapist. Many thanks
for your work." - Danielle

Even a physio has to practice what they preach, especially on holiday!

Jason and his family recently had a fantastic trip to beautiful Copenhagen. But it wasn't all sightseeing and Danish pastries! They couldn't resist lacing up their trainers to join the local community for a park run. It’s a brilliant reminder that movement is a lifestyle, not a chore.

Keeping active, even with simple things like a walk, a swim, or a jog in a new city, is key to maintaining your
fitness and keeping aches and pains at bay. How do you stay active when you're on your travels? Share your tips in the comments!
