It’s been a gorgeous and busy spring so far. 🌱🌞

I’ve been happily running herbal workshops, for adults and children, here in the West Midlands in the most beautiful of spaces - from community organic farms to museums of historic buildings.

I am very lucky to have the job I do - working with people and plants, as well as getting to spend time in the outdoors, it’s an absolute privilege. It is so great to see people go home happy, with the remedies they’ve made and new skills.

My practical herbal remedy making workshops are over now until summer (bookings for July are live on my website) however if you are interested in learning more about herbal medicine there are other ways you can come and learn with me - for example at the community allotment where I hold 2 sessions a week.

Celebrating Beltane by making a hawthorn flower essence.
We have a small hawthorn tree at the edge of the community herbal allotment which was in full blossom yesterday. After picking the flowers we put the petals in spring water and lay the bowl under the tree in the infuse In the sun.

Hawthorn is one of my favourite trees, I’ll be working with and this week where we will be delivering a session full of the magic of hawthorn, medicinal teas, story telling and music to a community group in Birmingham, later to be open to the public at the end of the month.

I hope everyone has been enjoying the gorgeous weather recently 🌞
There are signs May is almost upon us with the Hawthorn trees already in full blossom here in the Midlands.

I’m looking forwards to May as we continue to develop the community allotment and spend time working with the plants that are growing there.

If anyone would like to get involved, or even just pop along for a visit you are more than welcome, and please free to share with anyone who may be interested 💚

This last two weeks I’ve been working a lot with dandelion, both children’s herbal workshop and at the community herb garden 🌼

Today at the community plot we had a tea tasting of dried root, we ate eat the fresh leaves, petals and roots, and infused wilted flowers in oil.

🌼 We discussed the way seeing dandelion cheers us up, and reminds of us sunny days with its beautiful lion head. Student Medical Herbalist, Chelsea, spoke about the way dandelions give us courage, strength and perseverance whilst the spring sun shone down. 🌞

We are using a sun infusion method to extract the properties of the dandelion flower heads into the oil and will be making this into a balm to ease aching muscles once it has had a couple of weeks to infuse.
If anyone wants to join us at the community garden on the 2nd May when we will be making the balm just let me know.

I am also running a workshop next weekend at The Fold Bransford where we will be exploring more about dandelion along with other spring herbs , tickets for this event are on my website - link in bio.

Easter children’s herbal workshops The Fold

I loved being outdoors when I was little, I loved plants and gardening and am so grateful I had the opportunity.

This Easter break I ran a series of herbal workshops for youngsters, and it was so lovely to see them enjoying time outdoors with their hands in soil, discovering the magic of nature 💚

I will be back delivering more children’s herbal workshops in the summer at The Fold and planning some for Birmingham too, and eventually hoping to be set up at the community garden .

This plant has been a firm favourite of mine since I was a child. Not only are they beautiful but they are also medicinal, I’m currently growing them for medicines such as a calming tea.

If you are interested in learning more about cowslip and other spring plants, I’m hosting a workshop in April where we will be going for a spring walk around the lanes of the farm and a forage followed by a practical session making herbal remedies and tonics.

Tickets are available on my website, link in bio.

As many of you know I have been busy with a community herbal medicine allotment in Birmingham, which is beginning to take shape - exciting times 🌱

If you know anyone who would be interested in getting involved or may benefit from being outdoors and being involved with a community project, or wants to know more about herbal medicine please share 💚

April is a busy time in the growing calendar, so there will be lots going on - planting, sowing seeds, as well as continuing to develop the site and learn about medicinal plants.
