Please see details below about an exciting Peer Support event, taking place on Thursday 21 November at the Uffculme Centre. Recovery College will be supporting the event. Hope to see you there! :)

Join us 21 November to learn more about the many vacancies and training opportunities we have across the system! ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ

The Peer Support Programme Recruitment Fair aims to create awareness of upcoming vacancies and training opportunities, whilst giving attendees the chance to network and learn more about peer support as a discipline. ๐Ÿ‘

We'll also be joined by our colleagues from Imroc, Shaw Trust, Recovery College and University of Birmingham who will be sharing more about comprehensive training and certification requirements.

If you are interested in pursuing a career in peer support, this is a unique opportunity that you don't want to miss.

*** Recovery College Open Day ***

To celebrate the launch of the new college term, we are holding an Open Day at the Uffculme Centre, 10.30-3pm on Thursday 12 September (tomorrow!)

There is no need to book, you can just pop in to see us for a cuppa and see what the new term has to offer.

We have some brand new sessions:
What is an eating disorder? An introduction
The Power of Reflective Practice
Down the rabbit hole: finding what you need in the Age of Information

We have also included some informal craft sessions this term.

*** New Recovery College timetable ***

We are pleased to share that the new Autumn / Winter Recovery College timetable is now available and bookings are open.

We have 3 brand new sessions featuring this term:
โ€ข The Power of Reflective Practice
โ€ข What is an eating disorder? an introduction
โ€ข Down the rabbit hole โ€“ an introduction to the Age of Information

There are also a variety of returning sessions and courses available.
Sessions will run from late September until mid-December.

We will be holding an open day on Thursday 12 September: 10am-3pm, Uffculme Centre, Moseley - no need to book this, please just drop in to see us. We can tell you more about our sessions and sign you up.

*** From struggle to strength: living with a gambling addiction ***

Recovery College are pleased to share we have some places available on a new session โ€˜From struggle to strength: living with a gambling addictionโ€™.

In this session, we will look at harmful gambling and the impact it has on those living with this addiction and the challenges of a mental health condition. Through a lived experience view, learners will have the opportunity to discuss and share how to navigate the maze of emotions and challenges individuals can face including the beliefs and perceptions of what is โ€œgamblingโ€ and how to raise the subject with loved ones. With signposting, helpful tools and shared discussions there will also be a focus on how recovery can take place with resilience and hope.

The session is on Monday 24 June, 2-4pm, Uffculme Centre.

There are a few places remaining on the upcoming Menopause and Mental Health session in Recovery College:

Monday 17 June, 2.00pm - 4.00pm, Uffculme Centre

The session explores what the menopause it, why it happens and some of the common and uncommon symptoms associated with it. it can often be hard to identify the symptoms as the menopause and not fluctuations in our mental health. Through discussion and activities, learners are encouraged to explore this topic in more detail and how to advocate for yourself. The course has been designed to empower individuals to recognise the symptoms and help you navigate health information to make informed decisions.

Recovery College For All, new term Summer timetable โ€“ now available

We are pleased to share a new summer timetable for Recovery College beginning on Monday 13 May through to Thursday 15 August 2024.
