Happy International Women’s Day! 💜🤍✨

Today, March 8th, 2026, we at Communities Engage and Thrive want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women who make our world and our community a brighter, stronger place.

To the mothers, the leaders, the caregivers, the dreamers, and the doers: your resilience is our inspiration. Empowerment isn't just a word to us; it’s the heartbeat of everything we do. We see your hard work, we hear your voices, and we honor the unique journey every single one of you is on.

Today, we don't just celebrate how far we've come; we commit to lifting each other up even higher. When women thrive, our whole community thrives. 🌸

To all the women in our community: You are enough, you are powerful, and you are valued. Today and every day, we stand with you. 💚

Today was week 6 of our 7 week manage Your Diabetes Programme at Dolphin Women's Centre , we had a wonderful healthy cooking demonstration by our lovely chef Kate, showing how simple, nutritious meals can still be full of flavour. 🍲🥗

As many of our lovely ladies are fasting during Ramadan, we made sure they didn’t miss out. Instead of tasting the food during the session, the delicious, diabetes-friendly dishes were carefully packed into containers for them to take home and enjoy at iftar.

From wholesome mixed bean salad to smoked mackerel and rye bread to healthy homemade flapjack treats and avocado and dark chocolate mousse, it was a great way to show that balanced eating can still be tasty and practical during Ramadan.

Supporting our community means being flexible, understanding, and making sure everyone can benefit even while fasting. 💚

Huge thanks to our amazing chef Kate.

All recipes used are from our CET Diabetes friendly recipe book which all participants will recieve a copy of on the final week of the programme in their choice of language 🙌

This week we completed 3 of our Manage your Diabetes programmes. 🎉

In today’s final session at Hamstead our Nutritional Therapist Parveen shared practical tips on meal planning, bulk cooking and how to read food labels, helping everyone feel more confident about making healthier choices. The feedback we have recieved has been truly uplifting and positive and the changes we have seen in just 6 weeks are phenomenol. We are seeing improved mental wellbeing, weight loss and participants who are feeling more educated, motivated and optimistic for the future in improving their sugar levels.

It was warming to see so many smiles and happy faces.
It was lovely presenting our participants with their certificates, recipe books and additional information packs to support them on their journey. So many were sad the programme has come to an end, but I reminded them that they are all capable of achieving their goals one step at a time.

Wishing everyone the very best on their health journey. And remember, we’re only ever a phone call or message away.

6 brand new programmes start in April and past participants are always welcome to join again for extra support.

Please use the link in the comments to register your interest in our upcoming programmes.
