👉 What parents say about Read, Play, Create

Read, Play, Create was built from my love of reading, my teaching background, and everything I’ve lived through with Archie when he was little.

Every detail of these classes comes from real experiences — the challenges, the breakthroughs, and the small moments that mattered most.
So honestly, every tiny comment fills my heart more than you know ✨

Thank you for trusting Read, Play, Create.
Thank you to every family who has trusted me with their little ones ✨

It’s been so lovely to see some new names joining us for tomorrow 🤍
If you’ve been thinking about coming along and feel a little unsure, please know you won’t be alone.
Our sessions are relaxed, friendly, and very much go-with-the-flow ✨
You’ll be so warmly welcomed.. 🥰

🌱 Our Jack and the Beanstalk theme last year was such a hit, and I cannot wait to do it all over again… but this time even better!

Over the past year I’ve learnt so much, and I absolutely love getting to share that with all of you 🥰

So here’s what’s growing in tomorrow’s session:
✨ Green, green rice
☁️ Chickpea clouds
🚑 Egg water rescue
🌾 Spaghetti cereal beanstalks

I’m SO excited for tomorrow — and we’ve only got a few spaces left to join us!

Creating the world with rice was HARD!!!! 🌍🍚
Who knew all those little islands and countries could be so tricky! 😂

I wish I could actually work this fast in real life instead of having to sprint until you all arrive! 🤣

But it’s all good fun, and I really do love creating these setups. So excited to get back to it on Wednesday — super speedy style! 💛

What were the children learning?
🌍 Early geography – talking about the world, land, and water
✋ Fine motor skills – scooping, pouring, sieving
🧠 Concentration & problem-solving – figuring out how to move and sort the rice
🗣 Language development – “full”, “empty”, “pour”, “shake”, “island”
🤝 Social skills – sharing tools and taking turns

What themes do your children get most excited about?

There’s so much happening behind the scenes at Read, Play, Create HQ — and this is one I just had to share!

We’re now collaborating with Family Fun & Support Worcestershire CIC — an incredible one-stop hub for families across the West Midlands and Worcestershire. They’re parents too, which makes their passion for supporting families and sharing what’s out there even more special.

They are a non-profit organisation, supported by Worcestershire Public Health and Family Hubs, and their mission is all about making it easier for families to find activities, groups, events and support in one place.

If you’re ever stuck thinking “what can we do today?” — this is the place to go. They have everything and are constantly adding and updating:
baby and toddler groups
under-5s activities
classes for children and teens
family events and days out
support groups and community services

I’m so excited to be supported by them and to work alongside them, providing families with experiences that help little ones learn, play and grow. 💛

Tuff Tray Spotlight ✨
I’ve got two from this week…
First of all, I had to mention my beautiful Earth 🌍
One thing I love about rice trays is the effort that goes into creating them… and then the micro-second it takes for them to be “messed up” 😂
But it isn’t messing it up.
It’s so much more than that.
My trays are an invitation to play — and if a little one dives straight in, I’ve done my job.
And guess what… as soon as I revealed this one, I turned around and the Earth was already just a blue and green swirl!
The sensory experience that dry rice gives is on another level — not just for the littles, but for parents too… and me! I love it 💙

And the second… did you guess what our Moon was made of? 🌕
Porridge!
Doesn’t it look amazing? It gave the perfect crater effect. Such a contrast to the dry rice — wet, sticky, and completely different to explore.
Some littles loved it, some were very hesitant… but that’s what it’s all about:
What is it?
Do I like it?
Yes? No? Not sure?
Watching their little minds whirr is just the best 🥰

I had a few messages about this setup I did for Archie… and for some reason I shared his learning and reactions before I shared the actual setup 🤦‍♀️
Sometimes I really do wonder how my brain works!

But here we are 😂
This is a super simple way to introduce early sounds in a fun, playful way.
And when I say sounds… I mean sounds, not letter names 👀
More on this soon, but for now — try to stay away from the alphabet song. It can actually make early reading harder because children need the sounds the letters make, not their names.
Take it from me — a teacher and a first-time mum fail 🙋‍♀️

Backtracking from letter names to sounds is hard… but we’ve got there 💪

This activity turned into nearly 2 hours of play 😮
So much vocabulary, language, connection and bonding. I’ve already shared Archie’s learning journey from it — and it was just lovely.

If you give it a try, let me know 🥰

When do we talk about moon rocks in day-to-day life? 🌙
This is why books — and varied books — are so important.
They open up worlds children might never otherwise explore ✨

This little one LOVED our moon rocks tray 🥰
Through play, he was:
✋ building fine motor skills
🧠 developing concentration
✨ feeling excited and curious
🗣️ naming objects and colours (rock, stone, egg, big, small)
🔢 counting

Mum and Dad had to keep re-wrapping them again and again…
although the tin foil didn’t quite hold up! 😂

It was so lovely to watch — and to join in this wonderful learning moment 😊

This… this is Read, Play, Create 🤍

It might look like messy play —
but those little hands are working hard 🤍
Through sensory play like oobleck, children are:
✋ strengthening their hand muscles
🖊️ building early handwriting skills
🧠 developing coordination and focus

No worksheets.
No pressure.
Just meaningful, hands-on learning through play ✨

When I plan a Read, Play, Create session, I always begin with a story 🤍

From there, I think about how children might feel it, touch it and play it — not just listen to it.

That’s how reading, play and sensory exploration come together ✨

19/01/2026

Sometimes the simplest activities do the most work 🤍

Pouring, patting, planting —
little actions that build focus, coordination and confidence.

Moments like this are what inspire our sessions at Read, Play, Create 🌱

If you’re thinking about Wednesday, we’d love to welcome you.
