🌿 Grow & Play at Sunnybank Allotments – Last Session of the Term! 🌿

What a fantastic time we had at our Grow and Play outdoor group this week! The children had an absolute blast splashing in the mud pit and getting creative in the mud kitchen — where the sensory walk items mysteriously made their way in too (because why not? 😄).

We also had some brilliant snail discoveries, leading to wonderful discussions about their shells, tentacles and how many feet we think they have. 🐌✨

There was time for free play with toys, and then we all gathered around the fire pit to enjoy the story "Woosh Around the Mulberry Bush". To top it all off — because it was our last session of the term — we ate marshmallows and enjoyed some well-earned biscuits. 🍪

A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us and made today extra special. We can’t wait to see you all again next term!

Another gorgeous day at EcoGrow Sunny Bank
It started off with a bit of workout in the drizzle whilst I got to work on the brambles with the brush cutter! 😅🌧😎

Next the sun came out for our outdoor toddler session where we made potions in the mud kitchen, painted butterflies and stones, found loads of cool bugs including ladybird larvae and sowed some marigold seeds 💚

Finished off the day in the gorgeous sunshine with the lovely ladies in our Women's Art and Gardening Group we started that session with a good old chinwag around the fire boiling water for a cuppa and toasted a cheeky marshmallow on the flames (rude not to 😆), we painted pots made a few weeks ago and got to work planting out tomatoes, sweet pea, boardbean and nasturtium. 💚💚💚

Best thing to do on a rainy Tuesday morning?
Play in the mud kitchen!!
Water play took up the whole hour at Grow and Play, Sunnybank. this morning!
Watching water bubble as we poured it from a height, listening to it trickle, watching it move leaves as we poured it down the drain pipe, making spirals with spoons and of course lots of splashing and sploshing.
All from collected rain water 🌧☁️💧

We found a moth in one bucket of rain water and very gently scooped it out and placed it on some absorbant cloth in the sun to help it to get dry. The children were fastened and extremely caring hoping that it survived 💚💚We named it Malcom the moth. Or was it Fred?!
