🎙️ 🎥Lights, microphone… Metchley Manor! 🎬

Today we had the pleasure of joining the Explore Edgbaston with Karen Basra podcast to talk about something we’re incredibly passionate about Metchley Manor and the Edgbaston community.

Metchley Manor is known for the exceptional care we provide to our residents, but what really makes our home special is our commitment to tackling loneliness and creating meaningful connections. We’re passionate about welcoming people from the local community who may benefit from companionship, friendship and discovering what life in a residential setting can truly offer.

It was a brilliant opportunity to share a little more about what we do, why we do it, and how important it is for homes like ours to remain connected to the community around us.

Thank you to the Explore Edgbaston team for having us – we can’t wait to hear the episode 🎧🎤🤩🏡💜

Here’s a sneak peak at our furtastic Metchley Mutts day.
As voted by the residents, Milo was both ‘Best Dressed’ and ‘Best in Show’, Bo was ‘Best Sleeper’ and Trixie ‘Best Entertainer’.
The kitchen rose to the occasion with style!
While you wait for more photos why not try the quiz?
How many of the famous dogs can you recognise?

Food is of the upmost importance at Metchley Manor.
Frequent food forums, residents meetings and daily feedback lead to a menu that is led by the tastes and requirements of our residents.
Today was an occasion when a resident chose her favourite dish for the lunch menu, which was lovingly prepared by chef Scott and the team.
Christine was thrilled with her burger and chips complete with squeaky square cheese!

Spring is in the air and our Metchley Manor minds have turned to gardening.
We're so lucky to have the minibus here and the privilege to take our lovely residents out and about.
A trip to our local garden centre provided both inspiration and a shopping opportunity for our upcoming gardening sessions.
And yes! We did treat ourselves to a cuppa too.
After all that hard work we deserved a slice of Mrs A’s amazing birthday cake!
Wins all around.

What a day… and what a lot of laughter! 🎭✨

Fun Time Theatre brought the drama, the giggles, and plenty of sing-along moments this morning, turning the lounge into our very own stage. There was clapping, toe-tapping, and more than a few cheeky encores!

Then this afternoon, we swapped the spotlight for sunshine with a lovely trip out to the local pub. Good company, a refreshing drink, and big smiles all round… and how welcoming it was to see the sun shining on our little trip out 👏🏼☀️🏡💜

🧧⭐️Today we welcomed Chinese New Year with a truly wonderful celebration in the home, and what a fantastic day it has been! Our talented head chef Scott Tame and the kitchen team prepared an outstanding menu with residents enjoying dishes such as sweet corn and vegetable noodle broth, tempura soft shell crab, chicken with cashew crumb and lemon sauce, monk’s vegetables with egg fried rice and chow mein, followed by delicious banana or pineapple fritters with ice cream.

Residents then spent time discovering their Chinese zodiac signs, sharing stories and smiles along the way, and we were delighted to find that we have around a dozen “Horses” in our home!

Each resident also received a special Year of the Horse good-luck gift, given with warm wishes for prosperity, love, wealth, happiness and good health for the year ahead.

It has been a joyful day full of laughter, amazing food and culture 🧧🥟🥢🐴💜🏡

🥳🎂Yesterday we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating one of our wonderful ladies on her birthday! 🎂🥳

We love any excuse to celebrate our residents and create moments that bring genuine smiles and happy memories. From laughter shared together to those little thoughtful touches that make the day shine a bit brighter, it’s always a joy to make birthdays feel truly special.

Here’s to another beautiful year filled with many more reasons to celebrate! 💐🎈🏡💜
