Most people don't show their failures, but its all part of the learning process. If you don't make mistakes, how can you grow?!
This was my first test candle in my new containers, and only after I had poured it did I realise that I had used the wrong sized wick.
This is my medium-sized tin, and I used the small tin wick by mistake. I still did a test burn anyway to see the results, as testing is an important part of candle making to ensure high quality.
A wick too small causes tunnelling, and as you can see, after 1 hour, 2 hours, and 4 hours, the melt pool doesn't reach as close to the edge of the container as it should, which is what I expected to happen after realising I had messed it up!
Can you imagine if we never tested our products before sending them out to paying customers who put faith in your product being of good quality? Yes it takes alot of time, and money to test the products but it's definitely worth the effort and so rewarding when it all comes together and you get everything right. After all, candle making is a science, its not as easy as most people think.
