This October, I’m taking a moment to talk about something that often gets overlooked: cholesterol. It’s one of those things we don’t usually think about until it causes problems but by then, it could already be affecting our heart health.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
• High cholesterol doesn’t usually have symptoms, but it can raise the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
• The good news? There’s a lot we can do to manage it.
For me, that means making small, realistic changes:
🥗 Adding more fruits, veggies, and wholegrains to my meals
🚶♀️ Trying to stay active (even just a daily walk)
🚭 Avoiding habits like smoking that put extra strain on the heart
🩺 And yes, getting checked regularly even if I feel fine
Sometimes lifestyle changes aren’t enough, and that’s when treatment prescribed by a GP makes all the difference.
This National Cholesterol Month, I’m reminding myself (and you too) that small steps really do matter when it comes to protecting our heart.
