There is a secret ingredient to your child's / teens physical and mental well-being and it is found in your kitchen.

Young individuals idolise their sporting hero's no matter what sport they play. We purchase their shirts, posters and dream of having their lifestyle.

Many top performers collaborate with top brands to promote nutrition.
Unfortunately 90% of the companies that have sponsorship in sport have poor nutritional products.

Sport is allowing poor nutrition to be advertised as the health halo. .

Due to the big name athletes in top physical condition being part of this approach it sends mixed messages to young individuals and their families.

In reality top athletes don't use the product. Many use good nutrition in form of fruit, vegetables and quality meats.

Why because good nutrition contains vital vitamins, minerals and fibre to support development, brain function and helps with preventing and recovery when it comes to injuries.

Why at UTHFiTT we have the "FOODBOW" what makes young individuals grow.

Being a health related fitness coach for youth development, we see the importance of how nutrition plays a vital role in the seven strands of total fitness.

There are current health reports raising concerns of inactivity and this being linked to future health concerns. Furthermore, poor nutrition is influencing child obesity and poor mental health.

Diet advice that calls certain foods "zero" foods or "wins" sends confusing messages to young individuals when it come food consumption.

We look at the importance of a balanced diet that includes - protein, fibre, omega 3, good fats and wholemeal foods - combined with physical activity.

I don't think we can shut the stable door on the current climate of fast food outlets on our high streets. The access to home deliveries that makes poor nutrition easily available and affordable is also a concerning trend.
It is important, however, to have a basic understanding of nutrition.

This is why at UTHFiTT we look at the F**T principle when it comes nutrition... Frequency - Intensity - Type - Time

We also look at the activity levels of our young individuals and whether they are reaching moderate, vigorous, physical activity( MVPA) as well as the importance of muscle movement.

The importance of fueling young individuals correctly for school, play and their game is immensely important.
At UTHFiTT, we understand growth spurts and how nutrition intake can affect relevant energy deficiency (REDs). We also look at how we refuel at grassroots level to help support development, brain function as well as injury prevention and recovery.

Don't become a dinosaur...🦕

I have noticed over the years that most sports young individuals participate in are lower limb.

Due to this we are not working our upper body. From a young age we have climbed and pulled ourselves up to learn to walk and get balance. Not many young individuals now use the climbing frame or monkey bars.

Then some are placed on strength and conditioning programmes using weights.

At UTHF**T we like using their own bodyweight with low calisthenics exercises.

So don't let your upper body strength become extinct...

I have a feeling.....

The feel the ball theory..
Focuses on the sensation of the ball hitting a tennis racket, golf club or football boot.
The concept is by consciously feeling the impact on the ball you can adjust to the feedback.

The feedback can cause pain, the shot can look wild and then emotions can set in... Or that sweet spot.
You ever had that feeling?

The adjustment can enhance performance.

Tactile :- The feel of the ball.
Kinesthetic :- Muscle movement and joint interaction.
Auditory :- The sound of the contact..
Visual :- What happens during the trajectory.

It's all about the connection.
The same when it comes to youth development..

Kinesthetic :- Understanding and incorporating kinesthetic learning strategies in your programme.
Auditory :- Learn more about an individual by listening.

The opportunity you are missing.

Youth development is becoming a drill of movement and technical drills.

I remember speaking to a young individual who played his sport and a coach was negative about his game.
I explained.. I don't coach sport or technical training drills... 🤔🙄😳..
So I explained my approach seven strands of total fitness and one YOU!

Providing an environment to be stress free, challenge their ability with mixed age and ability...

We don't focus on sport but the health benefits physical activity can provide young individuals....See your game improve. 😉

I explained to the young individual I work with feelings, understanding the drivers and changing your mindset.

Are willing to reset.
Are you willing to believe in yourself.
Are you willing to go on a journey.

UTHF**T:-I have a feeling. I am getting stronger.
