We are all horrified and disappointed by the level of racism and violence that we have seen across the country over the last few days.

Currently, leaders across the NHS in Birmingham and Solihull are working together with partners – including West Midlands Police - to continue to monitor, and respond to, the situation in our own region and beyond as it evolves.

Intelligence suggests there could be unrest in East Birmingham today. Please be aware of this if you need to travel to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. Try not to travel alone, but also not to travel in a large group. Please remain vigilant, and try to have alternative travel routes identified.

There is a global issue impacting computer systems, and clinical records are currently unavailable. We can still see patients who are acutely unwell, but would request that any patients with non-urgent issues wait until after the weekend. Your pharmacy may still be able to see you for sore throats, coughs & colds, ear problems, etc.
Thank you for your consideration.

Community pharmacies can offer treatment for seven common conditions without patients needing to see a GP, as part of a major transformation in the way the NHS delivers care.

Highly trained pharmacists at more than nine in ten pharmacies can now assess and treat patients for earache, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles, sinusitis, sore throat, and urinary tract infections (UTIs) for women aged 16-64 -without the need for a GP appointment.

Available on the high street, community pharmacy teams have the right clinical training to give people the health advice they need, with no appointment necessary and private consultations available.

Don't wait for minor health concerns to get worse – think pharmacy first and get seen by your local pharmacy team
