On Friday the 23rd, we had the honour of conducting Michelle’s " Shells" funeral service. She was a beautiful ray of sunshine and was surrounded by a truly wonderful family.

At Urwins Undertakers, we are deeply thankful to have been trusted with such an important role — one we take extremely seriously as a team. It was a privilege to help Michelle’s family say their farewell.

The flowers were beautiful, the service was beautiful, and her family did her proud in every way.

Our Licensed to Practice membership is granted annually to BIFD Full Members who demonstrate their dedication to excellence through 12 hours of approved Continuous Professional Development each year. This scheme is designed to promote and maintain best practices within the funeral profession, ensuring our members are always at the forefront of industry standards.

Associate Membership is open to individuals involved in occupations related to or supporting funeral directing. This includes those without formal funeral directing qualifications who still contribute to the profession. We’ve seen this lovely appeal from Sutton Rose and, as a local business, we would love to help in any way we can.

We will be collecting donations to support the Children’s Cancer Ward and will pass everything on to Sutton Rose ahead of their 28th February deadline. Small gifts, toys, activity packs, vouchers, or raffle prizes — anything at all can help bring a smile to a child and their family during an incredibly difficult time.

💚 Wishing a peaceful boxing day for all 💚

Just like that Christmas is over for another year. Today is Boxing Day or St Stephen's Day.

Many people believe that Boxing Day is named as sports are played again on this day, but it's history goes back to Medieval times. Alms boxes in churches were opened on the 26th December and distributed amongst the poor. However, from 1743, the day became known as Boxing day as it was the day that tradesmen and employees were handed Christmas Gratuities in a little box from customers and employees.
