✨ Supporting the next generation of Clinical Psychologists ✨

It’s DClinPsy application season again. We recall just how much time, reflection, and resilience are required for each step.

This year, some of our clinicians are offering something different. Instead of conducting one-off application reviews, we will mentor one or two aspiring psychologists throughout the entire process.

Think of it as a reflective companion for the journey, from writing to feedback, to interviews, or about next steps if things don’t go to plan.

Each clinician has chosen to take on one or two applicants, providing support throughout the application journey. This will include:
• Reflective space during the writing process
• Application feedback through a reflective and strengths-focused lens
• Space after submission to consider the journey and next steps
• Interview preparation, if shortlisted
• Reflective support if an application is not successful, with a focus on learning and growth

This is not just about polishing an application. It is about creating a space to pause, reflect, and develop as a future psychologist.

🔹 To ensure a fair process, spaces will be offered through a short expression of interest form. We are particularly keen to support applicants who may have limited access to supervision or mentoring from qualified psychologists.
If you would like to be considered, please complete the form here: https://lnkd.in/eKV4Hxrk

Please submit your interest by Friday, 12th September - 5pm using the form above only.

Spaces are very limited, as each clinician will only take on a small number of mentees.

We look forward to supporting those embarking on this important step in their journey.

🌱 Just delivered training on “Understanding Autism and ADHD in Children’s Residential Care”. An incredibly important (and often misunderstood) intersection between neurodiversity, trauma, and attachment.

The training was delivered by our Director, Dr Lucky Ganatra, Clinical Psychologist specialising in paediatric neuropsychology.

This session brought together teams working in children’s homes to deepen understanding of how neurodiversity, trauma, and attachment interact, and what that means in everyday practice.

🧠 We covered:
🔹 Why trauma and neurodevelopmental conditions often overlap
🔹 How executive functioning, sensory needs, and emotional regulation impact behaviour
🔹 Why meltdowns are not misbehaviour, and how to support children safely through them
🔹 Practical tools for creating predictable, relational, and low-demand environments

💡 Key takeaways:
✨ “Support the nervous system, not just the behaviour.”
✨ “Adapt the environment, not just the child.”
✨ “Your relationships are the intervention.”
✨ “Behaviour is communication.”
✨ “Meltdowns aren’t misbehaviour.”
✨ “Trauma and neurodivergence often co-exist, and require care, not control.”

💬 The work you do matters. Your relationships make a difference.
Thank you to all the residential professionals who show up for our children, consistently, patiently, and with compassion.

📩 Interested in this training for your team?

See Beyond the Spectrum: Celebrating Neurodiversity

Autism is a natural variation in how brains work, not a disorder to be fixed, but a different way of experiencing the world. Autistic people bring unique strengths, from deep focus and creativity to honesty and innovation.

By embracing neurodiversity, we move beyond stereotypes and create a world that values and supports different ways of thinking, communicating, and experiencing life. Let’s celebrate those differences today and every day!
