SCC Bring Your Dog to Work day
Last week SCC hosted their second Bring Your Dog to Work day in James’ House, Birmingham! This fabulous day was packed with oodles of fun with our Labrador-able friends competing in plenty of competitions including an agility course and ‘waggiest tail’ - an especially tough event to judge!
We were fortunate enough to host both the Birmingham Dogs Home and Guide Dogs UK charities, who spent the day helping us and educating everybody in SCC about the importance of our friendly companions as well as how much guide dogs transform lives across the country.
As you can see, both our employees and their dogs all truly had a ball, and we look forward to next year’s BYDTW day!

SCC installs 737kWp PV to supply Birmingham data centre with Conrad Energy
SCC has announced a new partnership with Conrad Energy, a global provider of renewable energy solutions, to install solar panels at our CV1 data centre facility in Birmingham. The move is part of SCC's commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.
The 737kWp roof-mounted solar-PV system will provide a significant amount of renewable energy to the data centre, reducing the amount of electricity that needs to be sourced from traditional energy sources. The panels are installed on the roof of the CV1 facility, and will create 130 tonnes of carbon savings in the first year.
We have been committed to sustainability for many years, and have already implemented a number of initiatives to reduce our environmental impact. This new partnership with Conrad will further enhance SCC's sustainability efforts, and demonstrates our commitment to using renewable energy sources wherever possible.

Our engaging roundtable discussion, held in collaboration with SCC's Rainbow Network, delved into essential topics such as the visibility of the LGBTQIA+ community, the importance of pronouns, allyship, and creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.

As part of our ongoing commitment to global #sustainability, we’ve been helping HP achieve its Climate Action Goals by planting 500 new trees in New Forest National Park, in partnership with Forestry England.
Attended by senior leaders from SCC and HP, our Tree Planting Day included talks from experts at Forestry England and HP on the importance of #biodiversity and #forests.
To date, HP has already planted 60,000 trees in the UK and Ireland (UK&I) with more planting this Spring
HP’s Climate Action Goals include achieving #netzero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the HP value chain by 2040, reducing HP value chain GHG emissions 50% by 2030, and reaching #carbonneutrality and #zerowaste in HP operations by 2025.

SCC today opened the SCC Academy, a new purpose-built headquarters campus training centre focused on delivering #IT #skills to the wider #community.
The best practice, employer-led #digital skills #training hub plans to teach over 1,000 people per year, working in partnership with multiple agencies and community groups to develop a range of training opportunities providing critical foundation #technology skills and ultimately the qualifications, confidence and opportunities that digitally excluded candidates need to take a step up in the world of work.
Officially opened by West Midlands Mayor Andy Street, the SCC Academy builds on SCC’s long history of providing support to local and community #education programmes. Situated on the company’s Knowsley campus with the capacity to cater for 78 participants at a time, while initially targeting candidates in the immediate locale, its intention is to expand a range of training programmes that can be implemented across the UK and internationally.
A pilot programme conducted in partnership with the Good Things Foundation since February this year has already introduced essential digital skills to 75 local residents, with 46 of those provided with free tablet computers and internet access to support their progress.
