I had a 9 year old patient come in with mum and siblings. The patient presented with pain and Muffled hearing in one ear and had been using drops in the ear. I checked the ear and it looked like a straightforward wax removal, so I proceeded with suction and removed a lump of wax. I could see wax further down and as I tried to remove the wax the patient was finding it uncomfortable as the wax was pushing against the ear drum. So I moved to irrigation and washed the wax out, which revealed two small gems stuck in the ear. I then went in with suction and removed the gems! We all had a chuckle over this as my patients parent said they had an inkling there was a foreign object in her ear. My patient was beaming as they had instant relief from the pain and Muffled hearing and is now free to enjoy the summer holidays. The siblings were fascinated by how I got the gems out, hopefully they'll think twice about putting anything in their ears 👂 😅 .
Aftercare advice given.

I had a patient attend my clinic with an ear infection the image on the left is the right ear and the image on the right is the left ear!
The symptoms were reduced Muffled hearing and pain.

✅️The left ear is nice and healthy
⛔️The right ear is infected

The patient has been suffering for a while now, the patient wasn't prescribed any antibiotics from the GP when seen under a year ago, but was referred to ENT. The patient waited far too long before being treated, unfortunately the treatment given hasn't worked so the patient came to see me as the patient was unsure of what to do. I cleared out the debris and have written the patient a referral asking for a swab to make sure the antibiotics prescribed are suitable for for this bacterial infection.

It is important to always get these symptoms checked, an infection, if left untreated can travel into the mastoid cavity or into the brain

If you're unsure as to whether you have an infection, and can't get into the GP then please book an appointment to have this checked.

Patient had a blockage which you can see on the left, had been there for some time. I successfully removed the wax without any problems and as you can see the patients ear drum is visible, looking nice and healthy which is what I like to see.

One of yesterday's cases.
Both ears were completely blocked, but the patient only felt like the right ear was blocked. The patient was experiencing this for a year. The patient had used olive oil and cotton buds and over time pushed the wax further down. Before coming to see me the patient used otex which caused the patient some discomfort.

😱 This was a very difficult case and took a long time to remove the wax, I had to use all 3 methods and olive oil to remove all of the wax.
The patient was ecstatic at being able to hear after suffering for so long.

The canals were quite red and looked irritated due to the amount of wax present, so after care advice was given.

One of the most common reactions from patients when they see their wax is " eughh why is my wax so dark" it's simply because it's spent it's time collecting sweat, dirt, dust, dead skin and soaks it up and as it sits there it starts to age in a way and over time it gets darker and darker.

In my last place of employment I use to see on average 17 patients per day, doing microsuction, irrigation and manual removal. I built up a great client base off the back of my 5 star reviews. I wanted to share some of those reviews, although these reviews are not from patients who have been seen at Pure Hear they are about me and well my magic hands belong to me lol so wherever I go I will always uphold the same level of outstanding service, especially within my own clinic

I have cropped patients names out as they weren't seen at Pure Hear, but a quick Google search of my full name will bring up all the Google and trust pilot reviews

My patient came in with symptoms of pain, Itchy ears, Muffled hearing and tinnitus in his right ear. The patient has otitis externa which is an ear infection. The first picture shows the ear canal filled with pus, I cleared out as much pus as I could, unfortunately the canal was slightly tender so I couldn't completely clear the ear as shown in the 2nd picture. The Patient will require antibiotics for the infection. A referral to his GP was made and will return to see me. The 3rd pic is of the patients left ear, which is healthy and the ear drum is intact.

My patient had microsuction in one one and irrigation, more a wash out in the other ear. As you can see from the pic the lump of wax was removed via suction and the other clearly irrigation. Patient came in with symptoms of Muffled hearing and ringing in the right ear. Patient had been using hydrogen peroxide drops sodium drops and olive oil in the right ear, this made the wax watery, which then lead to it all accumulating onto the ear drum hence the symptoms, now this makes it unsuitable for suction and this is why the ear was washed out. This gave the patient instant relief no more ringing or Muffled hearing. Aftercare advice was given and the patient was happy.
Microsuction can usually be performed with out the need for the wax to be softened as it makes it easier if the wax is slightly hard and difficult if the wax is too soft.
