Osteoporosis is a condition where your bones lose strength. This causes weakness and the bone affected is more susceptible to fracture. It occurs as part of the natural ageing process and is more common in women especially after the menopause. It primarily affects the hip, wrist or spine.

Physiotherapy can help by:

- Prescribing safe and effective exercises to improve strength, balance and co--ordination and so help reduce the risk of trips and falls that may cause fractures
- Providing advice and education on how best to manage your condition
- Help with pain relief if you have sustained a fracture

Looking for physio near you? We have many QAP’s that specialise in the treatment of osteoporosis, find one here, remember to look out for the QAP logos: https://bit.ly/3AkrZzu
