☕💚 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Macmillan Coffee Morning at PBL Care!

It was a lovely morning filled with cake, coffee, laughter, and great company, all in support of an amazing cause. We’re so proud to come together as a team (and with our local community!) to help make a difference.

Every slice, sip, and smile helped raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support 💚

Here are some tips to help:
👉Reassure them, remind them they’re still the person you know and value what they can do.

👉Understand changes, look for the reasons behind their behaviour and offer calm reassurance or gentle distraction.

👉Stay connected, keep up family ties, community activities and dementia cafés to reduce isolation.

👉Adapt how you communicate, be patient, use short sentences, eye contact and positive body language. Avoid patronising tones.

👉Look after yourself too, seek support, take breaks and keep doing things you enjoy.

If you’ve supported someone living with dementia, what advice would you share?

Every year, many families across the UK are affected by the devastating impact of su***de. Behind each life lost is someone’s loved one, a parent, sibling, friend, neighbour, or colleague.

On World Su***de Prevention Day, we are reminded of the importance of reaching out, talking openly about mental health, and ensuring that nobody feels alone in their struggles. At PBL Care, we believe in supporting not just physical well-being, but emotional well-being too, because every life matters, and every conversation could save one.

At PBL Care, we know that as we age, our feet carry more than just our weight; they carry our independence.

Foot care may seem like a minor concern, but it's essential for staying mobile, comfortable, and safe. From dry skin and thickened nails to more complex conditions linked to diabetes or arthritis, problems with foot health can quickly lead to falls, infections, or reduced confidence.

That’s why our carers are trained to support safe, dignified foot care routines as part of everyday personal care.

Here’s how we help:
✅ Daily foot washing & drying
✅ Moisturising (safely – no cream between the toes!)
✅ Nail care & support with podiatry
✅ Monitoring for early warning signs
✅ Encouraging the right footwear & gentle movement

With PBL Care, it’s not just about ticking a task off a list, it’s about comfort, dignity, and preventing issues before they arise.

Because when your feet are supported, so is your freedom. 💙

𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞

When someone new starts visiting Grandparents, or individuals who need care, children are often the first to notice, and they may have questions.

At PBL Care, we understand that explaining home care to children in a simple, positive way can help them feel reassured, rather than worried.

💬 Try saying:
“You know how you help us at home? Well, sometimes some people need help too. A carer comes to support them with things like cooking, cleaning, or getting dressed, so they can stay safe and happy in their own home.”

🌟 You can also explain the difference between:
🕐 Hourly care – A carer visits for parts of the day to help
🏡 Live-in care – A carer stays in the home full time, like a helpful housemate

Home care doesn’t replace the love and support of family; it gives us more time to enjoy with our loved ones, while making sure they’re safe and supported.

If a carer is coming into your home, introduce them warmly and include your child in friendly chats. It helps everyone feel comfortable. 💙
