Today, we were provided all three of our Jaguar funeral vehicle options for a Service at St. Laurence Church in Northfield— a XJ Hearse, Limousine and Saloon car — helping ensure the family had the transport that best suited their needs on a difficult day.

Having flexible transport options allows families to choose what works best for them. Our Jaguar limousines can seat up to seven passengers, allowing close family members to travel together, while our Jaguar Saloon car offers a comfortable alternative for up to four passengers.

Providing both options means we can accommodate different family sizes and preferences, ensuring everyone can travel together in cortege with dignity and comfort as part of the funeral procession.

We are proud to offer a range of professional vehicles to support families and create a respectful and fitting farewell.

Today, on Mother’s Day, we pause to honour and remember all the incredible mothers and mother figures who have shaped our lives with love, strength, and kindness. 💐

For many, today is a day of celebration. For others, it may be a day of quiet reflection and remembrance for a mum who is deeply missed.

As a family-run funeral directors, we see every day just how special that bond is. A mother’s love leaves a lasting imprint on our hearts, and the memories shared continue to guide and comfort us.

Today we hold space for those celebrating with their mums, those remembering them, and those finding Mother’s Day a little difficult. However you are spending today, know that your memories and love endure.

From all of us, we wish you a gentle and meaningful Mother’s Day. 🌷

The family of John Pitcock wanted his Funeral Service to be as personal and meaningful as possible. John had been collecting ties since his twenties, amassing an extraordinary collection of over 2,000! His daughter, Louise, carefully selected a number of these ties for our Funeral Director, Mike, and the team of Bearers to wear in honour of John at his Service.

Proud of his Black Country heritage, the Black Country Chain flag — which he proudly displayed on camping holidays — was draped over his coffin as a tribute to his roots.

John began folk dancing after meeting his wife, Patricia, and together they attended many Folk Festivals over the years, introducing countless friends to the joy of folk dancing. As a special tribute, a visual accompaniment was created to one of his favourite pieces of folk music.

The most important conversation you’ve never had.

Talking about funeral wishes is never an easy conversation — but sharing even a little can bring real peace of mind.

Sometimes the best way to begin is to keep it small and natural:
“Have you ever thought about what song you’d want played?”

A question like that can gently open the door to a meaningful, honest conversation — one that helps your family feel supported and connected, now and in the future.

Recently, our Funeral Director Neil had the honour of attending a Requiem Mass at The Oratory on Hagley Road for a lady whose family chose Ernie, our VW split screen Hearse, for her final journey.

Following the Mass, the cortège travelled to Kings Norton Cemetery, with Neil ensuring every detail of the day was carried out with dignity, care and professionalism.

At the family’s request, our team wore cerise pink ties — a meaningful personal touch that reflected their loved one beautifully. At Mortons, we understand how important these personal elements are. Our attention to detail and commitment to getting the smallest details right remains at the heart of everything we do 🩷

One of our favourite traditions returned today as Sarah treated the team to her annual Pancake Day feast!

This special tradition was started many years ago by Derek and it’s something we’re proud to continue. It’s a small gesture, but one that reminds us of the strong family values at the heart of Mortons.

There were plenty of toppings, lots of smiles, and (of course!) some very impressive flipping skills on display!

Traditions like this mean a great deal to our team — honouring the past while continuing to build the future.

Happy Pancake Day from all of us at Mortons! 🥞✨

Monty our Military Land Rover 101 Hearse made a spectacular entrance to Oakley Wood Crematorium & Woodland recently for a former Royal Marine’s Funeral Service, directed by Sarah. The TV screen displayed a photograph lovingly chosen by those who knew him and the external speakers fittingly played “A life on the ocean wave” as we travelled from his home address to the Crematorium Chapel 🎖️

Thank you to the two gents from Bournville Village Trust who collected our “Tree of Light” Tree - we’re pleased that it will now be chipped and reused rather than going to landfill🌲
