Emma recently joined Helping Hands in April as part of our Live-in Care team. We spoke with her to learn about her journey into care and what a typical day looks like:
“I was inspired to become a Carer after watching my mum care for the elderly when I was growing up and helping take care of my late nanna.
My typical day starts around 7am, preparing breakfast and medication, tidying the house, doing laundry, and supporting my customer with washing and dressing. If she had any appointments, I would drive her or if she wanted to go into town I'd accompany her. I would prepare her evening meal and assist when she is ready to go to bed.
My biggest pleasure is to see my customers happy and being able to live a fulfilled happy life in their own home, no matter their age or disability. This job is a rewarding role and knowing you make someone happy is the best feeling in the world.”
Emma’s story shows why care is truly rewarding — it’s about connection, support, and making a real difference every day 💜🏠
