Good Morning Everyone 😊

Spring has finally Sprung as they say, although you wouldn’t think it if you looked out of your window 🪟 😅😩🤣🤣

But this will not stop us meeting today for our lovely Mom’s Walk in Sutton Park 🙌😊

For those who may be seeing this for the first time - Hi 👋

I’m Caron an midwife who runs a weekly Mom’s Walk in Sutton Park every Monday - it is free to attend and everyone is welcome 🙌💕

We meet outside Costa Coffee at Wyndley Leisure Centre at 1 20pm and start walking sharply at 1 30pm - we usually finish at 2 45pm 🕥

As you can hear in the little video, this is an extremely friendly group of moms and no one is left out - if it is your first week I make sure you have someone to walk with and I’m always there to chat away and answer any concerns you may have and it’s just a lovely way to meet other moms and get some fresh air and help to keep those postnatal blues at bay too 😅

So if you are thinking about joining us - please do it today as you will be made more than welcome 🥰

I hope to see you at 1 20pm and please don’t be shy ☺️

See you soon 🔜

✨ One of my lovely moms asked me this week…

“How will I know when I’m actually in labour🙋‍♀️

And honestly… it’s such a great question and one I get asked a lot…Because every woman wonders this at some point.

So let me explain 😊

Real labour doesn’t usually arrive all at once dramatically like it does on TV 📺 …It builds up over time … gently and steadily for the most part, especially for first time moms 🤰

Your contractions will:
✅ Start to come regularly
✅ Feel stronger and more intense
✅ Last longer
✅ Come closer together

You might find you need to stop and breathe through them and you will get to a point that you won’t be chatting through them anymore…

And often you feel a shift 😅

You go from “is this it?”
to quietly thinking…“ok… this might actually be happening now…”

But here’s the most important part you must remember…

❌ You don’t have to figure this out on your own
❌ You don’t have to sit at home worrying
❌ And you never have to second guess whether you should ask for help

If you are ever unsure if you are in early labour, just call Triage or MAC 📞 and speak the a midwife as this is exactly what they are there for and they will guide you 😊

Midwives would always rather you call, have a chat and reassure you …than you sit at home feeling anxious or unsure about things.

There is no such thing as a silly question and you will not be wasting “wasting anyone’s time”.

Whether it’s contractions, your baby’s movements, or just a feeling that something isn’t quite right… Please pick up the phone and speak the someone 📞 because you deserve to feel safe, supported, and listened to, especially if you think you’re in labour 💕🥰🙏

Why do I love teaching my classes so much 🙋‍♀️

After so many years as a midwife, and 16 years of teaching my classes, I can honestly say… this part of my role as a midwife means the world to me 🥰

I’ve supported thousands of women over the years…and I will never tire of this ❌

Because every single woman who walks through my door matters to me 😊

Whether you come to my Pregnancy Yoga,Hypnobirthing, Antenatal Classes …Or join me after for Baby Massage, Mom & Baby Yoga, Baby Mombo or Baby First Aid you will be joining so much more than just a class 🙌

They are all spaces where you can come exactly as you are…No pressure, no judgement, no expectations
Just come as yourself 💕

I understand how it feels to be pregnant and unsure.
To have questions going round your head at 2am.
To wonder if what you’re feeling is “normal”

That’s why I always make time at the start to talk…
Because no question is ever too silly, too small or too embarrassing ❌

And over the weeks, I always see it happen ✔️

You walk in a little unsure…
And slowly you start to settle

And then that moment comes that I love the most,
When you realise…

“I can do this” 🙌💕

It’s not just the teaching I love, it’s also:

Helping you feel safe ✔️
Helping you feel informed ✔️
Helping you feel quietly confident going into birth and motherhood ✔️
Helping you navigate those early postnatal weeks ✔️

And the lovely thing is…
You’re never on your own in my classes either 😊

Lasting friendships really are made and not just promised
Laughter is shared (so much laughter)
And there’s always another mom who understands exactly how you’re feeling

So if you’re thinking about coming along…

Take this as me gently saying… do come and join us 💕

You don’t need to be fit ❌
You don’t need to know anything ❌
You don’t need to feel ready ❌

You just need to walk through the door and let me take care of the rest 💕

And I promise you…You won’t regret it ❌

✨ A little honest and important chat from a midwife… ✨

You may have noticed more midwives speaking up on social media lately… and I want to gently explain why.

It’s not because we’re trying to be influencers.

It’s because influencers (and dare I say it? Doulas ….are starting to act like they are midwives.

And this is why it’s a concern 😅

Because the truth is…
Many of these people sharing advice have never:

Supported a woman through labour ❌
Held space in those intense, life-changing moments ❌
Made real-time decisions when something doesn’t go to plan ❌
Carried the responsibility of two lives in their hands ❌

And that responsibility matters more than anything.

As midwives, we are trained, experienced, and most importantly accountable!

We are registered with the NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council) ✅
We follow evidence-based guidelines ✅
We are responsible and accountable for the care and advice we give ✅

And if we give incorrect or unsafe advice…
There is a process ✅
There is accountability ✅
There are consequences ✅

But on social media?

Anyone can say anything.
Anyone can share advice.
Anyone can sound convincing.

And if that advice is wrong…
There is no accountability ❌ no regulation ❌ and no recourse ❌

That’s the difference.

This isn’t about criticising people who want to support women…but that should be in shared experiences 🤍

But there is a clear line between:
Sharing a personal experience and giving clinical guidance about pregnancy, labour, and birth 👩‍🍼

And you deserve to know where that line is.

So when you see midwives like me showing up here…
It’s not for popularity.

It’s because we want you to feel:
✨ Safe
✨ Informed
✨ Properly supported

Because birth is powerful…
But it also deserves respect, knowledge, and experienced care.

You deserve more than opinions. You deserve guidance you can trust.

So always ask yourself:
“Is this person trained, experienced, and accountable for what they’re telling me?”

And if not find someone who is 💕🥰🙏

Calling all you beautiful September moms-to-be 🤰

If you’ve just found out that you’re pregnant and your baby is due in September…..well congratulations to you 🥰

So whether you’re feeling excited, nervous, overwhelmed, or all three at once ……I want you to know… you don’t have to do this alone ❌

As a midwife with almost 40 behind me now, I’ve supported thousands of women through pregnancy and birth just like you and one thing I know for sure is this:

💫 The way you feel going into labour really matters
💫 Feeling informed, calm, and supported changes everything

And that’s exactly why I created my midwife-led pregnancy yoga classes.

These classes are so much more than stretching on a mat…They are your weekly space to feel supported, guided heard, and prepared 🥰

Each class gently supports you to:
✨ Understand what’s happening in your body and your baby
✨ Build confidence in your ability to give birth
✨ Learn how to breathe and move in ways that actually help labour progress
✨ Let go of fear and replace it with calm, steady belief
✨ Connect with other moms-to-be who will often become lifelong friends 🙌💕

We always begin with a relaxed Q&A session which honestly, is everyone’s favourite part 🙋‍♀️

You can ask me anything… from “is this normal?” to “how will I know I’m if……”

Then we move into calm, gentle and most importantly safe yoga postures, focusing on breathing and relaxation 😮‍💨

It’s extremely friendly and so welcoming and there’s always so much laughter too and I promise you you will 100 percent leave each week feeling just that bit more grounded and reassured.

💫 Suitable from 12 weeks right up until birth
💫 Weekly classes in Harborne, Shirley and Sutton Coldfield
💫 Each class a mini antenatal course, but so much more personal
💫 Led by a midwife who truly cares about your experience

My goal for you?
To take you from pregnant and panicking… to birthing with belief 🤍

So if you’re due in September, now is the perfect time to start.
Give yourself this space each week… you and your baby deserve it 💕💙

I don’t think I will ever stop feeling grateful for messages like this 💕

After so many years as a midwife, you might think I’d be used to it… but honestly, it never doesn’t touch me and I’m always so grateful to receive such lovely feedback when one of my ladies takes the time, in those precious early days with her newborn, to message me and say thank you… to tell me she felt calmer, more prepared, more in control of her birth… it really doesn’t mean everything to me 🙏

And it’s because my main goal is to prepare moms-to-be for labour and birth 👩‍🍼

❌ Not perfection.
❌ Not a “textbook” birth.

✅ But a woman who walks into her birth feeling informed, supported and believing in herself.

But this time… I received something extra special 😍

Alongside her message, I also received a separate one from her husband.

And that really stopped me in my tracks 🥹

Because partners are such a huge part of this journey… and when they feel confident, when they understand what’s happening, when they know how to support… it changes everything 🙌

Birth becomes something you face together and not something you just “get through”… but something you experience as a team.

For him to reach out and thank me for helping him feel ready too… that tells me I’ve done what I set out to do 🙌

To support not just the mum… but the whole family.

To take away some of the fear, the unknown, the “what ifs”… and replace it with knowledge, calm and trust.

And after all these years, that still feels like the greatest privilege of all 🤍

Thank you for trusting me with your two pregnancies and lots of love to you both 💕🥰🙏

There’s a reason I share birth stories from my lovely ladies… and it goes far beyond just celebrating them (although I am always so proud of each and every one 💕)

It’s because birth stories are powerful💪

As a midwife I’ve heard and witnessed hundreds of births. And what I know for sure is this…

The stories we hear shape the way we feel about birth 👩‍🍼

If all you ever hear are the scary, dramatic, “everything went wrong” stories…..of course you’re going to feel anxious, overwhelmed, and unsure, and I see this every single week in my classes.

Women arrive feeling frightened… holding onto stories that were never theirs to carry in the first place ❌

So I make a conscious choice to share real life stories 📖.
Real , honest, positive birth stories from women just like you 🙌💕

They are not always perfect, but they are;
Stories of women who felt in control.
Stories of women who breathed through their contractions and surprised themselves with their strength.
Stories where things didn’t go “to plan”… but are still empowering.

When you read these real life stories, something shifts.

You sit a little taller.
You breathe a little deeper.
And you start to think… maybe my birth doesn’t have to be something I fear.

That’s where confidence begins…..and confidence in birth is everything.

It softens the fear.
It helps your body work with you, not against you.
It allows you to trust the process, even when it feels intense.

And this is why I’ll keep sharing these stories.

Because they’re not just stories… they’re quiet reassurance.
They’re gentle education.
They’re a reminder that birth is not just something that happens to you…It’s something you can feel part of, prepared for, and proud of 💫

So when you read one of my ladies’ birth stories, don’t just scroll past…

Pause.

Take it in.

And let yourself believe…

✨ That could be me
✨ I can do this
✨ One breath, one contraction at a time

You’ve got this 🤍

Thank you, always, to the incredible women who trust me not only with their births, but with their stories too. You are helping more women than you will ever know 💛

Welcome to the world Baby Elias Douglas Costa 🙏💙

You are just beautiful 💙💙💙 and how wonderful of you to arrive on Mother’s Day, complete with a bunch of flowers in hand 💐 You will go far my boy 🙌💙

And of course huge congratulations go out to our lovely Roelle too 🙌💕

Now this is Roelle’s second pregnancy with me and it is always very lovely and special when ladies return back to pregnancy yoga for a second time around as it reassures me I did something right first time around 😅😩🤣🤣

The first time Roelle was with me she was in my Sutton Class and she made some lovely friends there that she is still in touch with, but this time round having moved home, she was in my Harborne class 🥰

Initially I was anxious she would feel the same way as the class vibe is quite different as Sutton is always my biggest class, but I needn’t have worried as she slotted right in with the lovely Harborne Moms-to-Be and was able to share her knowledge and experience with the first time moms which I always love to see 🥰 As a neonatal nurse she was also able to support me with the more medical questions too so thank you Roelle 🙏💕

I know this has been a much more difficult pregnancy 🤰 for you and you have had quite a few hurdles to overcome with one thing and another and as you say it all makes sense now you realise he’s a little boy 😅🥹🤣🤣 They really are trouble from the start aren’t they 🙋‍♀️🤣🤣

💦 WATER IN LABOUR… MORE THAN JUST “A NICE BATH” 💦

As a midwife I can tell you this with my hand on my heart….. Water is one of the most powerful, natural tools we have in labour and yet,
so many women don’t realise just how much it can help them 😩

When you step into warm water:

1️⃣ Your body relaxes almost instantly
2️⃣ Your breathing slows and deepens
3️⃣ Your muscles soften (especially your pelvic floor)
4️⃣ Your stress hormones begin to drop

…and this is KEY 🔑

✨ Your body can produce more oxytocin, the hormone that drives labour forwards and keeps it going 🙌

💫 WHY THAT MATTERS

When you feel tense, frightened, or watched…

👉 Your body produces adrenaline
👉 Labour can slow down
👉 Contractions can feel more intense

But in water…

✅ You feel safe
✅ You feel private
✅ You feel supported

…and your body can get on with the job it was designed to do 🙌

Over the years, I’ve seen women:

1️⃣ Cope better with contractions
2️⃣ Move more freely (no being stuck on a bed!)
3️⃣ Feel lighter as water supports your bump beautifully
4️⃣ Find their own rhythm and instinctive positions
5️⃣ Often need less medical pain relief

…and one of the biggest ones…

They feel more in control and empowered 🙌💕

🌸 IT’S NOT JUST PHYSICAL… IT’S EMOTIONAL TOO

There is something incredibly special about being in water during labour…

It creates a little bubble of calm around you 🌿

💕 The lights are softer
💕 The noise fades away
💕 You can focus inward

…and I often see that moment where a woman just drops into herself and thinks:

✨ “I can do this” and you absolutely can my lovelies 💕🥰🙏

So if you get chance then hop in that pool because the worst than can happen if you don’t like it is that you get out again …..but I’m pretty sure you won’t 😅💕

Good Morning Everyone 😊

Here’s a little midwife tip for you to use when you are in labour 🙌

If you are asked to get on the bed during labour… it does not mean you have to lie on your back 💁‍♀️

You can absolutely get onto the bed on all fours instead 🙌💕

And honestly? It can be such a game changer as it will:

💜Help your baby move down and into a better position

💜 Ease back pain (especially if baby is back-to-back)

💜 Encourage your pelvis to open beautifully

💜 Work with your body, not against it ❌

As a midwife having seen LOTS of births! I can tell you… our bodies are really clever and they know exactly what they need and will always guide you into the best position for you ✅

So if you’re told “hop onto the bed”

Think: How do I want to get on?

All fours ✔️
Kneeling ✔️
Leaning forward ✔️

You always have options my lovely 🙌💕

Remember…
This is your birth 👩‍🍼

A bed is not just a bed… it’s a space you can use in a way that supports YOU

✨ Trust your body
✨ Follow what feels right
✨ And never be afraid to ask “can I try this position 🙋‍♀️”

Never forget this small tip and pass it on to any moms-to-be who may need to hear it and have a lovely day today 💕🥰🙏
