Vicky's Battle with JHMS

Vicky's Battle with JHMS This page was created for two reasons - 1. To show Vicky's progression & battle with JHMS (Joint Hyper Mobility Syndrome and 2. To raise awareness.

Hi, my name is Vicky. I'm 24 years old. I am fighting to get my life back! I have a condition called Joint Hyper Mobility Syndrome. This means my joints are in a lot of pain and are weak, causing subluxations and dislocations all over my body. I am now fighting to get my life back. There is no cure, I can't just take a tablet and be better. I am having to slowly build up my strength with physiotherapy exercises so I can have a more normal life. I also have a condition called Fibromyalgia, this too causes pain but its more wide spread, I suffer 'brain fog' which means suddenly I will muddle up words, I suffer fatigue and of course, the ability not to be able to sleep does not help! I also have 'Patella Ulta' basically my knee caps are too high and the grooves too shallow, a lot of doctors are shocked by how high they are. I have several other conditions like polycystic ovaries, folliculitis which means I get painful lumps all over my body. I also have a problem with my blood pressure, where it is naturally normally no higher than 112 (top number) and then suddenly it will drop down and I will black out, go pale etc. This page is not me feeling sorry for myself, this page is me fighting - I will be me. I want to show everyone I can do this, show others with similar conditions/issues - there is light at the end of the pain tunnel - a future :)

Thank you; to everyone who has stuck with this page and for those who have recently joined. Unfortunately so much has been going on and I think my depression has really affected me and I kind of withdrew more from the things I enjoy, blogging,, making videos and so much more. But I'm back. I've decided it's not going to beat me, because I'm taking control. With a new physiotherapist, working with someone in the NHS to raise awareness (will go more into it over the next few days) and taking a positive from each day 😊 So I promise to you, all of you - I'm going to be more active and really push through this.

I cannot believe how long it has been since I've posted and this year so much has happened some good, some painful and some heart breaking.

Tomorrow I will be updating you guys, but right now it's just past 10pm and I'm physically and emotionally drained so I'm going to be getting some sleep. I just want to say I hope you are all doing well and for those going through hard times or having bad days remember; you are not alone, you are strong and you have got this.

Actually made it into the living room last night and now today. Being bed bound sucks and I was so scared because it's hard to get on to the couch from my chair. We do have to use the mangar elk lifting device to get me back into the chair but that's okay! Christmas is almost here and with the snow here my joints hurt but I loved watching it fall yesterday. Got my fleece blanket, good tv on and just feeling happy even if my body hurts like hell, I'm happy.

I want to apologise for being so quiet. Honestly, past few months have been hell. I've been struggling with my hips coming out atleast 3 or 4 times a week. My knees multiple times a day and just a lot of pain. My depression has been high and it felt like this was just getting worse but yesterday I met up with a new physiotherapist at a local orthopeadic hospital and I see a light . She said I am too severe for hydrotherapy which is a shock. I haven't walked for 9 months. Actually longer than that now, since Christmas day. But with their help i see a future. Will go into more later but I just want to say thank you to those that follow my page.
