Two small but powerful ways to influence our nervous system:

1. Talk kindly and reassuringly to ourselves - our subconscious mind is always listening (keep saying it until you believe it!)
2. Move your body! Our mind and our body are part of our nervous system and they are not separate. When we have difficulties in our mind a quick way to shift that is to move. Moving in any way that feels good to you will have an effect!

You don’t “get over” or “get through” bereavement grief. Instead it becomes part of you. It becomes a regular feeling that you experience just like all the other feelings such as happiness, loneliness, frustration, joy, excitement, fear…..

It just joins the rank of “feelings I experience”.

I still have to regularly check in with the (trained in grief) person who helped me work through my grief. If I didn’t check in with her regularly, I think I would have had some kind of breakdown by now. I’ve certainly had a sustained period of depressive, dark, hopeless feelings.

We need to talk to each other more about grief as I’m sure it would help with the isolation we can feel when going through it. And I’m sure it would help with those “it’s caught me suddenly off-guard” feelings.

In a world that feels out of control, these things I CAN control today:

➡️ How I speak to myself: after being ill and low due to a cold for over a week, this morning I woke up and declared “It’s going to be a better day today”

➡️ Getting out of my slippers into the next best thing – my running trainers.
NOPE, still not enough energy to run yet so gym instead for a light workout 😅

➡️ Wearing my favourite headphones so I can fully hear my banging tunes.

➡️ Wearing my favourite workout leggings.

➡️ Not forgetting my wrist strengthening after breaking *both* in the last three years.

➡️ Picking up my new smoothie maker so I can limit my intake

➡️ Using the Yuka app to find food with less harmful additives and have more choices about what I put in to my body 🙌🏻
