Teal Patents

Teal Patents Designer and manufacturer of mobile sinks for hand washing, based in the UK and exporting around the world.

With washing facilities generally relying on old fashioned type fixed sinks with traditional taps often inconveniently situated, there is very little to encourage better hand hygiene. With the dangerous pathogens that cause infection having the ability to rapidly mutate into more virulent forms, also makes antiseptic hand gels and alcohol rubs quite unable to cope. TEAL have pioneered the development of portable and mobile hot water handwashing facilities to wash away these nasties and manufacture an ever growing range of innovative products to suit every possible type of application and need.

Why Legionella is not a concern with these mobile hand washing sinks

There are a number of design features of Teal mobile hand wash units. Unlike conventional ‘plumbed-in’ sinks and systems, there are no concerns over infections such as Legionella.
The Hospital Infection Research Laboratory has tested various Teal units extensively. They recommended a simple disinfection routine to be carried out every other day: this ensures that the water system is completely free of any build-up of micro-organisms.
Unlike conventional washing systems that are subject to mains water pressure the low pressure spray head of the Teal units do not form fine droplets of water that can be breathed in.

Robust, efficient and safe - there is a suitable Teal mobile hand washing unit for every situation.

How the “20 second rule” can greatly reduce E. coli, Salmonella and norovirus outbreaks.
Yes – it’s good old fashioned

A well known doctor in the UK recently referred to the startling results of a survey which produced some shocking results – and gave a stark warning for pretty much everyone! In short, people neglecting hand washing after going to the lavatory put themselves and others at risk, according to a recent report on The Mirror website.

The article by Howard Lloyd quotes Dr Amir Khan, who said that there were “no excuses” for poor hand hygiene. The NHS GP reportedly referred to three particularly unpleasant illnesses – namely norovirus, Salmonella and E. coli – which can all be significantly controlled by careful hand washing after a trip to the loo.

The source of Dr Khan’s concern was a 19 week study with the sobering title of Nearly 45% of hospital toilet users fail to wash their hands, study finds. It was carried out jointly by the University of Surrey and Bispebjerg Hospital in Denmark.

During the study, sensors were placed in a variety of “unobtrusive” locations, with examples given including sink and toilet pipes, so that hand washing compliance levels could be accurately monitored. The results, quite frankly, were shocking.

“The results showed that 43.7% of users did not wash their hands after using the toilet, with non-compliance peaking at 61.8% on certain weeks.”

The benefits of good hand hygiene after toilet use are clear he says.

“Studies also show that people who wash their hands correctly after using the bathroom suffer less gut infections, but also less respiratory virus infections too.”
