GP Automate

The Oaks Medical Centre will be trialing GP Automate to automate our lab reports.

GP Automate removes the need for human input when processing normal Lab Reports. Normal lab reports will automatically be filed in the notes. Reports are filed and actioned with more speed and accuracy.

This new system does not replace your GP — GP Automate helps ensure nothing is missed and you get your results as quickly as possible. It will reduce the risk of oversight and human error whilst also allowing GPs to see abnormal lab reports quicker.

Anima Appointment Automation

Changes to How We Book Your Appointments
We are making some exciting changes to improve the way we arrange appointments at the practice.

Forward-Booking Appointments
We are also introducing the option to book appointments in advance.
If your request is assessed as non-urgent, we will be able to offer you an appointment, based on clinical need, the same day or up to two weeks.

This change will:
Allow better planning for both patients and clinicians
Make sure urgent appointments remain available for those who need them on the same day

Please rest assured – if your condition is urgent, you will still be seen on the same day.

Using the ANIMA Online Appointment Request Form
To help these improvements work smoothly, we ask all patients who are able to use our ANIMA online appointment request form.
The only exceptions are patients who may find online forms difficult, such as some elderly patients or those with learning disabilities – we will continue to support these patients in other ways.

By using ANIMA, you’ll help us:
Respond to requests more efficiently
Free up phone lines for those who need them most
Ensure you are booked in for the right type of appointment as quickly as possible

If you are having difficulty accessing Anima on your own devices, we have 2 tablets in our reception waiting area that patients are able to use to submit requests.

Thank you for supporting us as we make these changes – together we can make our appointment system work better for everyone.

Danielle (Dani) Baker is 1 of 2 safeguarding care coordinators for KEN PCN. Her role is to give safeguarding administrative support to each practice within the PCN. Their approach is to create a consistent and effective approach to safeguarding for all practices and to get them to follow the same process throughout the whole PCN.
They work collaboratively with other agencies such as health visitors, school nurses, early help, social workers, CRISIS and many more, to ensure we deliver the best safeguarding care to all our patients. Danielle also covers the safeguarding training requirements for practices by keeping a safeguarding passport for each practice. This is to make sure all staff members from each practice are up to date with their training and are able to deal with patients who are at risk of safeguarding.

21/08/2025

Please be aware that all sites will be closed on Monday 25th August 2025 for August Bank Holiday.

20/08/2025

Please note we do not take prescription requests over the phone unless housebound or previously agreed.

There is a 3 working day turn around for prescriptions. If a bank holiday please allow extra time.

Did you know you can put request prescriptions on repeat or acute at the surgery, through anima or the NHS app? Please note repeat medication will not show on NHS app unless due for renewal. You can nominate a pharmacy on NHS app or ask at pharmacy you wish to use and they can nominate you.

If you are on batch dispensing this means that your nominated pharmacy has your medication for 6-12 months in advance. You do not need to request your medication. If the batch is due to end you will be called for any tests that are required and the batch can be renewed for a further 6-12 months.

Hospital scripts that say hospital pharmacy only need to be issued by the hospital. We cannot do these.

Please allow time for any hospital discharge letters to come to us and be processed, if new medication is to be started. This can take 7-10 day to be processed. Hospital should discharge you with at least two weeks worth of medication. Outpatient treatment advice notes, please allow 7 days.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
coughs
colds
sore throats
tummy trouble
aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

Find an NHS Pharmacy here:

Find an open pharmacy near you on the NHS website. Check your local pharmacy's opening times, and find your nearest late night, 24-hour or out-of-hours chemist.
