What Antoine Bechamp’s Terrain Theory says about your lifestyle and habits.

06/04/2021

Good morning followers of Erdington Osteopaths' page.
Today I was thinking about the reasons why I would recommend a food supplement or vitamin or mineral preparation. Often these 'supplements to food' are presented as cures for this or that condition and sold as such, which buys into the idea of being helped by 'experts'. This takes away some of our power to be well by our own effort and choice.
Vitamin supplements are not very effective without a good diet. Hippocrates is supposed to have said 'Let thy food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food'. Apparently this phrase can't be found in any of his writings, but he wrote often on the subject of medicine and diet.
My point is that, although it takes a bit of work, choosing good food is essential to empowering ourselves to be healthy. Germs of all sorts rarely cause us to be diseased if we are healthy enough, and being confident in your health boosts that effect massively!
When comes to infectious diseases, 'there is nothing to fear but fear itself' which is attributable to many commentators including, apparently, Francis Bacon.
Have a confident, well nourished day!

Make your own decisions. It’s healthier.

11/03/2021

Hello again friends, I have been thinking about how to kick start the fight back from Covid 19 with my friend suggesting the catch phrase ‘Inside out’ meaning that you can be healthy from the inside out and get past our fear of germs attacking us from outside.
The scientist who epitomises this approach is a contemporary of Louis Pasteur, called Antoine Bechamp. He performed most of the research that Pasteur based his Germ Theory on. However, Bechamp disagreed with that theory and developed his own Terrain Theory which postulated that if tissue was healthy, germs would not attack it.
More soon😀😀

Introduction to new video series with ‘ The importance of nose breathing’.

25/01/2021

Dear Friends of Erdington Osteopaths. I have now been silent in this page for six months. I have been going through change at a rapid pace ever since the first lockdown ended. I am sure you all have stories, both funny and sad, about the last six months.
I have noticed how spending so much time at home has made us think differently about our health. There is still much talk about danger from outside, from a virus transmitted by people. Just looking outside for help has it’s limitations and the next phase is looking inside for answers.
I have got together with a nature cure expert, Loverel Vinton-Gordon, to start videos again. This time it will be a series which we are calling ‘Inside-Out’.
After the Spanish flu 100 years ago ( which was apparently from Kansas!) there was a natural health revolution. In my childhood home of Letchworth there was a vegetarian restaurant in the 1920s, and nature cure developed greatly between the wars. After the Second World War, large corporations encouraged us to abandon nature in favour of more and more synthetic medicines and foods.
This is the start of a wonderful rediscovery of nature within us and all around, representing our wellness!
Look here again soon.

Before any irritant or invasive particle gets to the lungs it can be caught and processed in the nose and throat. These exercises may help them to work efficiently.

REMINDER // SERVICES DURING CORONAVIRUS //
As health workers osteopaths have been advised to remain available to the public in every practical way. We are in a unique position to help minimise the pressure on the NHS during this difficult time.
We are offering 3 services.
1. A phonemail to give simple advice.
2. A video consultation, which enables us to assess you more thoroughly, and for which we make a nominal charge of £15.
3. In cases of acute need, we can treat you at the practice, which enables us to maintain strict standards of hygiene including the wearing of a mask and deep cleaning between each patient. We are booking people at least 1 hour apart to allow preparation of the consulting room.

5 points to remember when you have more than one area of spinal pain

03/04/2020

Dear friends of Erdington Osteopaths and Acupuncture Centre. Thank you for your interest in my recent posts. I have been interested in internal exercise systems like Yoga and Tai Chi for a very long time. There is another system called Alexander Technique after the New Zealander who founded it. I used that in my twenties to try and help with my posture which is often quite droopy. Some of you may remember being offered up to up the wall after a treatment to help you find a more balanced and relaxed posture. It is a moment to moment thing and posture awareness can be used as a way of meditating because it distracts you from your thoughts, as can all exercise. As I think I have mentioned, walking offers the best opportunity to release the body into it's optimum shape and state of relaxation. However, the principles are the same whether you are sitting in the car or riding a bike; or maybe even on the rowing machine at the gym. I will try and post a video with some ideas about posture. Oh, I forgot to say thanks for helping me reach 100 page likes this week. It's taken just over 2 years and I am grateful for your support.
