My mother, beloved Gurmit Kaur passed into eternity on 3rd March 2024, just one week short of her 71st Birthday. An elegant woman who was always beautifully presented, she fought muscular dystrophy in her later years, yet always retaining her charm and smile. She was, and will always remain, a much loved mother, grandma, wife, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. Gurmit was an empowered woman, working as a Photographer after migrating to Birmingham from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, in the early 1970's. She was an enlightened soul, having gained spiritual awakening through His Holiness Nirankari Baba Avtar Singh Ji. She continued in devotion to 4 successive Satguru-Mentors, who helped to further embellish her life and family.

Gurmit visited the MD Centre in Coventry most weeks, where she gained relief and comfort from the Physiotherapy and Osteopathy team. It really helped her for days afterwards, and we are indebted to their care. The funds raised here will help MD Support Centre help others, for years ahead.

Thank you in advance for your contribution.

A father and son were involved in a car accident in which the father was killed and the son was seriously injured. The father was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and his body was taken away. The son was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and was immediately wheeled into an emergency operating room. A surgeon was called. Upon arrival and seeing the patient, the attending surgeon exclaimed ‘Oh my goodness, it’s my son!’ Who is the surgeon?

Although I practice as a Psychologist and Psychotherapist, life has been personally challenging for me over the past 3years. Nobody is immune to the ups and downs, losses and gains of existence. Of course I work with people who are undergoing more serious strains in their own lives. I wanted to share this article, as a reminder to myself and others that with a positive attitude, every obstacle can be overcome. I hope you enjoy reading it, and may wish to share the ideas with others who you love and care for in your friendship and family circles.

Dear Friends

Please join us for the August edition of this thought provoking Forum. The theme is an interesting one - “You Are Spirituality”. If you thought spirituality was about doing, perhaps it’s time to broaden that thought, with the support of the Sant Nirankari Mission and it's Centres for Oneness?

The world operates on the principle of Have-Do-Be - if I have more time, I would do more fun things, and then I would be more happy. But the opposite is a more helpful process - Be-Do-Have. Be happy, do more fun things, and time will always make room for you! So the emphasis is really on BEING SPIRITUAL. One of the most useful ideas in this regard, is that “We are not human beings having spiritual experiences, but spiritual beings having human experiences”.

Why not come along, to join people of many faiths and cultures, to explore this theme more deeply. As usual, there will be music, poetry and talks to stimulate development, followed by a meditative experience that takes us beyond words, into the domain of being.

Join us in the upstairs area of the Shirley Centre, from 7pm. As always, free to park, free to attend.

The forefather to all meditations is ‘Neti Neti', which is 8000 years old.  It literally means, ‘Not This, Not That’. By removing our focus from all forms of disturbance, we are able to discover peace, stillness and pure awareness. This meditation takes us beyond all layers of emotion and mental conc…

When the Buddha was asked 'what are you?' He replied, 'I am awake'. It is true that one awakening occurs after a night's sleep, when the realisation dawns that all our dreams were but a passing show. Another when we reach our final breath, and realise that life too, with all it's drama, joy and sorrow was really like a dream. But the highest realisation takes place in the presence of an Enlightened Master - one who reveals the infinite in the finite and the everlasting in things that pass away. So, awake...and do it now. If you postpone because you have not found a Master, I have the privilege of knowing one, and can introduce you with ease.

Creation is one organic whole, one giant eco-system. When we damage one part of creation, it has a ripple effect on other parts. Global warming, and raising sea levels, is one example of this. In ignorance, we keep on destroying, dismantling and disregarding. As we are also an intimate part of the system, we end up inadvertently hurting and harming ourselves - if we really knew this, we would stop, being the selfish creatures we are! Stepping closer, consider the micro-cosm that is family - it’s centre is the mother and father. When they love and care for one another, they breathe life and health into the micro-cosm around them – the world in which they live, and in which they are sustained. You see, whether we observe the universe from a macro or micro level, only love and deep consideration for each other will lead to the continuation of life and joy. Any other path spells out our demise, and leaves the universe worse off than we found it. Could there be any act of ingratitude, to compare with this?
