The myth on Yellow tinted glasses for night driving!
These glasses which you may have seen being touted on the internet and Facebook as helping to reduce dazzle and glare from head lamps at night are not recommended.
It’s certainly the case that more drivers are stating that they are experiencing problems from headlight glare, but consistent studies to date have shown that there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that these off the peg, often cheaply made specs reduce glare at night. Any form of a tint on glasses for night time use is dangerous, and would reduce the drivers ability to see pedestrians!
If you are struggling with night driving your first port of call should be your Optician to check your vision, and to rule out conditions that impair night driving, such as cataracts or it could be you have an astigmatism in your prescription which requires corrective lenses.
The AA and RAC clearly state on their websites that such products should NOT be used at night.
