SENtre We are a private therapy centre for autistic children aged 2 - 10 years old. We are a private therapy centre for autistic children aged 2 - 11 years old.

We help children who may be behind in certain areas including speech, challenging behaviours and who may need additional support at school and more. We assist frustrated parents help their child achieve positive outcomes and independence while allowing them to be who they are. We use an innovative program called SENtre approach that follows the developmental processes while increasing focus, independence and happiness in families. In addition we offer private home therapy and online services that coach parents and empower them to teach their children. We have a team with a combined 20 years experience in the field and are passionate about what we do. We have staff that are trained in behavioural therapy and MAKATON.

This little superstar has quite literally grown up with us 🌟
Watching his journey has been nothing short of incredible.

There was a time when all he could do was shout and scream sounds at us — and no one knew what he needed, wanted, or how to help. Those moments were hard, confusing, and overwhelming for everyone.

Today?
He uses words.
He communicates.
He even spells what he wants.

This Saturday, he carefully spelled “crispy” because he wanted crisps — and honestly, our hearts melted 🥹💚

His family trusted the process, followed the guidance, and worked alongside us. His school noticed the difference too. Progress didn’t happen overnight, but step by step… it happened.

And those Saturday sessions? We couldn’t imagine them without his cheeky smile lighting up the room ✨

What is imitation and why is it so important for children with SEND?

Imitation is the ability to copy actions, sounds, words, or behaviours that someone else demonstrates. This might look like copying a clap, rolling a car, making a sound, or repeating a word.

For many children with SEND, imitation does not develop naturally and needs to be taught step by step.

Why is imitation so important?

✨ It’s the foundation of learning
Children learn by watching and copying others. Imitation is how they begin to learn new skills, routines, and play ideas.

✨ It supports communication and language
Before children can use words, they learn by copying sounds, gestures, and facial expressions. Imitation builds the pathway to speech and communication.

✨ It helps with social interaction
Imitation allows children to join in with others, take turns, and engage in shared play – all key parts of building relationships.

✨ It builds independence
From brushing teeth to getting dressed, many daily life skills are learned through imitation.

Sometimes the most meaningful communication doesn’t start with words — it starts with connection.

Intensive Interaction is a relational, play-based approach that focuses on building shared attention, emotional attunement, and trust with a child. Instead of asking the child to enter our world, we join theirs.

In play therapy, this looks like:
✨ Following the child’s lead
✨ Mirroring their sounds, rhythms, or movements
✨ Pausing, waiting, and noticing
✨ Creating moments of shared joy, curiosity, and safety
✨ Letting connection—not instruction—set the tone

🎉 Happy 4th Birthday, SENtre! 🎉

We are so proud to have supported children and parents for four amazing years!

We began with just 3 clients, and today we welcome 110 children every week—and that’s not even counting the children we support in schools or the incredible parents we coach.

Over the years, we’ve celebrated so many victories:
✨ Children finding their voices and increasing their communication
✨ Young people smashing their academic goals
✨ Parents feeling empowered as daily routines become easier
✨ Families gaining respite—helping parents study, graduate, spend time with siblings, or simply breathe

SENtre has offered hope where others offered doubt, nurture where others gave dismissal, and most importantly, has given parents renewed belief—opening doors to life-changing opportunities for their children.

We’re excited for what year 5 will bring… and trust us, we’ve got big plans! 💫
