There's been a lot going on lately, meaning my own practice has been repeatedly put on the back burner. Injuries, work, life stuff have been occupying my time and mind.
This morning I planned to carve out time to get on my mat, but one thing led to another and it, again, didn't happen because I ran out of time, leading to me feeling guilty and annoyed that I didn't get to do what I love most, like a fraud for not practicing what I "preach", so to speak.
But rather than do nothing at all and hold on to those feelings all day, I was called to get out my shamanic frame drum, both creating and absorbing intuitive sound and mantras while moving to the rhythm.
I feel like some of that anxiety and stress has literally been beaten out of me. Sound, vibration and the power of our own voices are powerful healers and recalibraters.
My point is, your practice doesn't always have to be confined to throwing shapes on a yoga mat. It can also be whatever you can do to intentionally show up for and connect back with yourself in order to find quiet and alignment in this nonstop, impatient world.
And like this crap, blurry, impromptu and unfiltered selfie, your practice doesn't have to be perfect, polished and aesthetically pleasing. It should be raw and real, forgiving and of the moment.
What one small thing can you gift yourself today to come home to yourself?
