Did you know yesterday was ? 🍦 Celebrated every third Sunday in July since 1984, thanks to President Reagan!

Ice cream has a long history, from ancient frozen treats to the creamy dessert we love today.

We enjoyed chilled, delicious milkshakes recently.🥛🍫

When the term milkshake was first used in print in 1885, it referred to an alcoholic whiskey drink described as a "sturdy, healthful eggnog-type of drink, with eggs, whiskey, etc., served as a tonic as well as a treat." However, by 1900, the term had come to mean "wholesome drinks made with chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla syrups." By the early 1900s, people were asking for the new treat, often with ice cream. By the 1930s, milkshakes were a popular drink with all.

We indulged in an array of chocolatey delights! Our very own Oompa Loompa Angie was on hand to make sure everyone sampled the delicious sweet treats dipped in chocolate!

Our lovely Jean enjoying her pot of jelly drops. 🍬

Jelly Drops offer a tasty and convenient way to boost fluid intake, with 95% of their composition being water, alongside added electrolytes and B vitamins. This can help improve brain function, energy levels, and overall well-being.

The creation of Jelly Drops was inspired by the inventor's grandmother, who had dementia and struggled with hydration, highlighting the potential benefits for this specific population.

From singing the afternoon away with our fabulous entertainment ladies to indulging in a delicious gentleman’s tea, the day was filled with joy, laughter, and appreciation. 🎶☕
Our wonderful male residents were truly spoiled, and they deserved every moment! 💙

We were delighted to receive a beautiful donation of twiddle items from the wonderful knitting club at the Pheasey Centre. These handmade twiddle muffs will be shared with our lovely residents at the home, where we know they will bring comfort and joy.

Twiddle muffs, knitted with care and adorned with a variety of textures and features are especially beneficial for individuals with dementia. They provide sensory engagement, soothe restless hands, and offer a warm, calming touch that promotes overall well-being.

As a gesture of appreciation and community spirit, we will be giving back by supporting the knitting club with wool donations and contributing items to the local food bank.
