At Nash Dom Community Hub, with the support of Our Walsall Walsall Council and the lovely people in Palfrey, we’re launching the Carpathian Community Shop this September!

It’s more than just a shop. It’s a space for community resilience, zero-waste living, and affordable, international food – led by the community, for the community.
But to bring this vision fully to life, we need YOU.

We’re now looking for volunteers to join us and help run the shop with warmth, kindness and a shared sense of purpose.

📍 Volunteer Roles Include:
– Friendly customer greeters
– Shop helpers (stocking, tidying, chatting!)
– Multilingual support (Eastern European languages, Urdu, Punjabi, Arabic etc.)
– Zero-waste champions

⏰ Flexible hours – even a few hours a week can make a difference

Carpathian Community Shop Set to Open This Autumn in Walsall 🧡

💚With the cost of living continuing to rise, more and more families in our community are struggling to access affordable, nutritious food. At Nash Dom CIC, based in the heart of Palfrey, we’ve seen this firsthand.

💡While our Community Fridge has helped many, we know it’s not enough. We need something sustainable. Something that not only provides choice and support but also brings people together.

👥Thanks to a grant from Our Walsall, we’re proud to soon join the growing network of Community Shops across Walsall.

Introducing: Carpathian Community Shop – opening this September!

But why Carpathian?

🌍The Carpathian Mountains stretch across many Eastern European countries – Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and more. It’s a region many of us from Nash Dom call home. The name reflects our shared identity, values and memories, and a deep desire to preserve and share our culture – not just within our own communities, but with everyone in Palfrey.

🛍️Here, you’ll find affordable pantry staples, dry goods, toiletries, and fresh surplus veggies – with lots of plant-based, hearty dishes perfect for cold evenings. Many of our recipes are simple, healthy and comforting, and we’ll be sharing those with you soon too.

This shop isn’t just about Carpathian heritage and Eastern European food. It’s about sustainability, inclusivity, and community resilience.

⏳We’re currently getting everything ready behind the scenes – painting, planning, and stocking up. Keep an eye out for our launch event very soon!

If you have pre-settled or settled status under the EU settlement scheme, you can travel freely in and out of the UK, you don’t need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).

But don’t forget to keep your UKVI details up to date with your passport and national card!

💔 Important Update – HAF Programme Summer 2025

We are very sorry to announce that the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme will not be taking place at Nash Dom Community Hub this summer.

This was an unexpected and difficult development for our team. We are truly heartbroken, especially as we have proudly delivered the programme for several years, receiving such warm and positive feedback from children, parents, and carers alike.

We sincerely apologise to all families who were looking forward to joining us again this summer. Your ongoing support means so much to us, and we understand the disappointment this may cause.

We hope to be back with more activities in the near future and will keep you informed of any new opportunities as they arise.

We'd like to invite you to the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month touring exhibition at Lichfield Street Hub on Monday 16th June from 10 am - 2 pm.

The theme for 2025 is Gypsy, and Traveller 'Heroes' month: "Who inspires you?".

The exhibition was developed by Warwickshire libraries in partnership with the Police and Warwickshire GRT engagement group. Several primary schools and support services including health and education also took part. We are excited to host it in Walsall for the first time!

It provides a great space for inspiration and showcasing some of the incredible people who make up Romany Gypsy, Roma, Irish Traveller, New Traveller Showmen, and Liveaboard Boater communities.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Având în vedere informațiile false lansate în mediul online cu privire la operațiunile efectuate în secțiile de votare organizate în țară și în străinătate la alegerile prezidențiale din anul 2025, Autoritatea Electorală Permanentă (AEP) atrage atenția că acestea reprezintă o dezinformare menită să genereze confuzie în rândul alegătorilor și să le influențeze opțiunile electorale.

Ca răspuns la aceste informații false răspândite pe platformele de social media și pentru informarea corectă a publicului, Autoritatea Electorală Permanentă a realizat un clip video care prezintă principalele activități pe care biroul electoral al secției de votare le va desfășura în ziua votării.

Totodată, Autoritatea Electorală Permanentă îndeamnă alegătorii să se informeze corect și doar din surse oficiale pentru a se proteja împotriva manipulărilor care le pot influența participarea la vot.

În actualul climat informațional dominat de tehnici și tactici care vizează răspândirea dezinformărilor cu scopul de a eroda încrederea în procesele electorale democratice, AEP subliniază importanța informării corecte a alegătorilor cu privire la drepturile și responsabilitățile acestora în vederea consolidării integrității și a corectitudinii procesului electoral.

Totodată, AEP menționează că toate activitățile pentru organizarea turului al doilea al alegerilor prezidențiale se desfășoară în condiții normale și fără întreruperi, în conformitate cu prevederile Legii nr. 370/2004 pentru alegerea Preşedintelui României, republicată, cu modificările și completările ulterioare, și ale Ordonanței de urgență a Guvernului nr. 1/2025, cadru normativ primar care este suficient pentru organizarea întregului proces electoral, operațiunile prevăzute în calendarul aprobat prin Hotărârea Guvernului nr. 17/2025 fiind în grafic.

🆕 ️Reamintim că cetățenii europeni, inclusiv cetățenii români, care vizitează Regatul Unit al Marii Britanii și Irlandei de Nord (UK) au nevoie de o Autorizație Electronică de Călătorie – Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), o prevedere în vigoare începând cu data de 2 aprilie 2025.

SOLICITAREA ETA

▶️ Procesul de aplicare pentru ETA se realizează exclusiv online.

🌐Cel mai simplu mod de a solicita o ETA este prin intermediul aplicației UK ETA, care poate fi descărcată de pe Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/detailshttps://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-etacom/us/app/uk-eta/id6444912481) sau Apple Apps Store (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/uk-eta/id6444912481). Solicitanții pot aplica pe site-ul web GOV.UK dacă nu au acces la un smartphone, la link-ul: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta

Se recomandă doar folosirea acestor platforme oficiale.

De obicei, solicitanții primesc un răspuns în termen de trei zile lucrătoare, dar pot primi un răspuns și mai devreme.

Pentru a solicita o ETA, solicitanții trebuie:
➡️Să plătească o taxă (ETA costă în prezent 16 lire sterline);
➡️Să furnizeze date de contact și datele din pașaport;
➡️Să furnizeze o fotografie validă, respectând regulile pentru fotografiile digitale publicate pe site-ul web GOV.UK (https://www.gov.uk/photos-for-passports);
➡️Să răspundă la câteva întrebări.

❗Vizitatorii trebuie să călătorească cu același pașaport pe care l-au folosit atunci când au solicitat o ETA.

✅ ETA este valabilă doi ani, dar dacă pașaportul titularului expiră în acest timp trebuie solicitată o nouă ETA aferentă noului pașaport.
ELIGIBILITATE

ℹAu nevoie de ETA doar vizitatorii, inclusiv copiii, care nu au nevoie de viză pentru șederi scurte de până la șase luni sau care nu au alt statut de imigrant în UK.

Cetățenii români care se înscriu într-una din categoriile de mai jos NU au nevoie de ETA pentru a intra în UK dacă:
➡️pe lângă cetățenia română, dețin și cetățenia britanică sau irlandeză și călătoresc în baza pașaportului britanic sau irlandez;
➡️au statut de rezident settled sau pre-settled prin schema EU Settlement Scheme (ATENȚIE - Este foarte important, dacă v-ați schimbat recent pașaportul, să vă actualizați documentul asociat statutului de rezident în UK. Pentru a fi exceptat de la obținerea ETA, trebuie să călătoriți cu pașaportul care este înregistrat în EU Settlement Scheme/contul UKVI);
➡️dețin deja o viză pentru UK (de studii, de muncă etc);
➡️sunt diplomați acreditați în UK (posesori de vinietă în pașaport).

❗ATENȚIE – Transportatorii români care operează pe cale rutieră în UK trebuie să se asigure că șoferii autovehiculelor (care nu au statut de rezident sau viză de muncă) dețin ETA înainte de a intra în UK.

⚠️IMPORTANT - ETA nu reprezintă o viză de ședere, studii sau muncă în UK. Dacă sunteți interesați de viză, puteți găsi mai multe detalii despre tipurile de viză (în funcție de activitatea pe care intenționați să o desfășurați în Regatul Unit) la adresa: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa
