🤝🌱 Join Us – Volunteer at the Carpathian Community Shop!

At Nash Dom Community Hub, with the support of Our Walsall Walsall Council and the lovely people in Palfrey, we’re launching the Carpathian Community Shop this September!

It’s more than just a shop. It’s a space for community resilience, zero-waste living, and affordable, international food – led by the community, for the community.
But to bring this vision fully to life, we need YOU.

We’re now looking for volunteers to join us and help run the shop with warmth, kindness and a shared sense of purpose.

📍 Volunteer Roles Include:
– Friendly customer greeters
– Shop helpers (stocking, tidying, chatting!)
– Multilingual support (Eastern European languages, Urdu, Punjabi, Arabic etc.)
– Zero-waste champions

⏰ Flexible hours – even a few hours a week can make a difference
🫶 Training & support provided – no experience needed

Carpathian Community Shop Set to Open This Autumn in Walsall 🧡

💚With the cost of living continuing to rise, more and more families in our community are struggling to access affordable, nutritious food. At Nash Dom CIC, based in the heart of Palfrey, we’ve seen this firsthand.

💡While our Community Fridge has helped many, we know it’s not enough. We need something sustainable. Something that not only provides choice and support but also brings people together.

👥Thanks to a grant from Our Walsall, we’re proud to soon join the growing network of Community Shops across Walsall.

Introducing: Carpathian Community Shop – opening this September!

But why Carpathian?

🌍The Carpathian Mountains stretch across many Eastern European countries – Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and more. It’s a region many of us from Nash Dom call home. The name reflects our shared identity, values and memories, and a deep desire to preserve and share our culture – not just within our own communities, but with everyone in Palfrey.

🛍️Here, you’ll find affordable pantry staples, dry goods, toiletries, and fresh surplus veggies – with lots of plant-based, hearty dishes perfect for cold evenings. Many of our recipes are simple, healthy and comforting, and we’ll be sharing those with you soon too.

This shop isn’t just about Carpathian heritage and Eastern European food. It’s about sustainability, inclusivity, and community resilience.

⏳We’re currently getting everything ready behind the scenes – painting, planning, and stocking up. Keep an eye out for our launch event very soon!

💔 Important Update – HAF Programme Summer 2025

We are very sorry to announce that the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme will not be taking place at Nash Dom Community Hub this summer.

This was an unexpected and difficult development for our team. We are truly heartbroken, especially as we have proudly delivered the programme for several years, receiving such warm and positive feedback from children, parents, and carers alike.

We sincerely apologise to all families who were looking forward to joining us again this summer. Your ongoing support means so much to us, and we understand the disappointment this may cause.

We hope to be back with more activities in the near future and will keep you informed of any new opportunities as they arise.
