Midland Health UK has been featured in a recent Daily Mail article covering the initiative to get people increasing their dairy intake to help reduce their risk of bowel cancer.

Our Medical Director and GP, Dr Rupa Parmar, was featured in the article, providing expert clinical advice on how avoiding dairy can do more harm than good regarding risk of bowel cancer, her experience with patients' self-diagnosis of dairy intolerance, the reasons why dairy can help reduce bowel cancer risk and understanding risk factors as a whole.

With trends of going dairy-free spreading, as well as misinformation surrounding the topic, trusted medical guidance is more important than ever, and we’re pleased to see our clinicians contributing to national health conversations.

✨ Introducing FRAT Testing at Midland Health ✨

We’re pleased to launch our dedicated Folate Receptor Autoantibody Testing (FRAT) service, designed to support families seeking clarity around developmental, behavioural, or neurodevelopmental concerns. This new pathway offers timely access to specialist assessment, clear guidance, and a structured approach to understanding whether folate‑transport issues may be contributing to your child’s symptoms.

Led by our experienced Consultant Paediatrician, Dr Gururaj Setty, our service is thorough, child‑centred, and clinically grounded. During your consultation, Dr Setty will take time to understand your concerns, review your child’s developmental history, and determine whether FRAT testing is appropriate within their wider clinical picture.

With no GP referral required, no waiting lists, and a clear, consultation‑led pathway from assessment to results review, our aim is to provide reassurance, understanding, and a personalised plan for next steps.

Vaccines aren't a shield against every illness, but they're a powerful line of defence.

Nurse Manager Louise Bradshaw explains that vaccines train the immune system to fight specific diseases, reducing your risk of illness and often making symptoms much milder and more tolerable if you do get sick.

Louise also highlights that research into vaccinations is always ongoing. As we come into World Immunisation Week, it's important to talk about the progression of vaccines not yet available as well as the effective work of those that currently are.
