Fungal nail issues are extremely common!
Affecting 50% off the over 50's.
We regularly see it in the clinic on people of all ages.
Unfortunately very, very few over the counter treatments work.
The reason being that the solution to kill the fungus has to get under the nail bed to attack it, as that's where the fungus is - under the nail.
So treatments designed to be painted on top will not work.
In the clinic we use a method called Clearanail.
It's a device that allows us to put tiny holes into the nail (almost painlessly).
A fungicidal solution such as terbinafine can then be sprayed into the holes, directly accessing the fungus and stopping it in it's tracks.
Without treatment, fungal nail never goes away. Over time it will only ever get worse and most likely affect more nails.
So catching it in it's early infection stages is vital!
